The whole idea of entry fees actually adds to the flavour... But by paying GSP, it might seem as a way to earn creds...
Why not pool the fees (and make sure to state it) into the prize?... That way, it's like betting on PvP arena matches... and that's not illiegal!
The way I see it, the biggest prob is the creds, FC's not been buggy about your work before... Even your competitions, and since it's GSP doin it, I even think they'll cut you a lil' slack, as you actually contribute to bringing, and keeping, people in-game...

On a side note, Q3A is not only the best game for it when it comes to accessability, it's also the grungiest... We're wanting a game, that launches from the meat room, and we're wanting it to be punky and futuristic... It's got all that, even the merciless dark, almost coldhearted feel of it!

Further more, it's a game most people know and can relate to!
If bettin, set up a bot... so people can write it and get status... if such a thing is possible... Like check scores, who's this week's "hot-shot" and what the status of the ladder is...
These are all things that can be implimented on a later note of course, but would really add to it all!

And as the others said, if you need test pilots... Don't hesitate to give us a tell... It aint got claws, but that doesn't mean I'm a total gimp, just need a sec or two to adjust! :wink:

i was finally able to install and patch it,
needed to download 3 times the patch and combine them (they were all corrupted).

and now i know again why i stoped playing it:

uncontrollable in fast situations, q3 is always fast.
thats the fault of my screwed mouse, in 80% of fast sidemoves it goes down in 15% the other direction. 1% up and 4% not moving at all.

the maps arent easy to play, u get always stuck at the corners.

and with multiple opponents i get no frags, cuz everyone is always at the "other end" of the map.

but i also remember why i bought it, cuz its a fantastic and absolutly great game.

Personally, I LOVE the fast action maps on Q3A. Especially the jumper maps. When every single move you've got to WHIP that gun around and open fire and pray to god your personal aiming reflex is on, while soaring through the air from a pad-launch and trying to adjust your trajectory so that you manage to land on the next launcher without sailing off into nothingness, all without actually looking where you're going.

That's some serious heart-attack action right there.

I have great control on Q3A, although I'm sure it takes a lot of getting used to if you've been spending a long time playing a vastly different engine. Play it like crazy for a few days, you'll get the hang of it...or you'll be forced to get a decent mouse. :)

Why not pool the fees (and make sure to state it) into the prize?... That way, it's like betting on PvP arena matches... and that's not illiegal!

No it's definitely not illegal, and that was indeed my initial intentions--not to make money but to pool the entree fees as the prize money. But using such a fee in the integration of a third-party activity that practically requires any participant to NOT be logged into AO at the time...that's where it could get hairy with the fine print of the EULA. I can only hope that since we're integrating to require AO (since you have to exist on AO to be able to buy and/or win an entry ticket, and obviously in order to collect any winnings), that FC will be cool with it. :)

Training young cute grasshoppa...Training. Play it a bit more, and it becomes second knowledge (I played CS like a nut a few years ago, now any time I come back, I've got some experience and I just need to play a little bit, and its like I am a natural at it.

Play it more, and then it'll become a great experience. ^_^

Noooo,
It's not like I'm very new at shooter games...
Ok, lemme tell you all my personal history with these type of games, and how BADLY I suck at them.

Back in the day, my dad dated this lady that had a buncha old shooter games on her computer. They wern't to old by those days standards I guess, but they're mad old now. My dad would drag me out to her place for the weekend all the time, much to my dismay (this is also how I got started being a gamer. I needed something to do over there, so I'd borrow game systems and games).

To combat the bordom of not having anything to do aside from study, doodle, and talk on the phone (I went to friends houses as often as I could when fridays rolled around), I'd play those games on her computer.

I started with Woldenstien or something close to that. I had to play on easy mode, otherwise I'd get roasted easy. After that, I'd play Doom, Doom 2, and Heretic. ALL were played on easy. I never ever got far with any of the doom games unless I saved alot after a messy encounter. It was TOUGH! :shock: even on easy, It was hard. I sucked bad back then. Really bad. It was part of the challenge to beat boredom to get good, but I'm afraid that never happened. ^_^;

Fast forward a few years,
I'm on a cool computer (for the time, and it's sence degraded into Gimpness). A friend comes over. When he leaves, he leaves some stuff behind on accident. Among that, his Half-life cd. A week goes by before he can come over to get it all.

"Oh, this is where my Half-life CD went to. Well, you can keep it. I burned a copy from a friend." And that's how I got Half-life. He installed it for me, showed me how to play, and I got ripped up by a zombie. ^_^;
Him: Go back! Go back!
Me: I am I am!! O_o
*gets smacked by a zombie thing*
him: Something's probably in the way. Jump back or run around it!
*jumps straight up in the air.
*Gets smacked again*
Me: ACK!! I'm dying! I forgot to save!
Him: run around him!
*runs right into him*
*gets smacked and dies.*
Him: ... here, lemme turn the difficulty down a bit.

For the longest time, the game collected dust on my computer. Diablo 2 got boring for me, and I needed entertainment. So I rememebred I had this game I never really played much of. I played it on easy, and actually managed to do really well for myself... on easy mode and saving after every conflict, and doing my best to be as effitant as possable. :mrgreen:

So, I got really far. I belive I even beat the game too, after a verrry long time. I was very proud of myself. :P I thought this made me good at shooter games. ^_^ Man was I ever wrong.

I jumped into a multiplayer game at a friends suggestion. I popped up somewhere, and died. ^_^ I popped up, grabbed a gun, and started sneaking around. I peeked around corners, croched, all that jazz. everything I did to do as well as I did in the game. But, it wasn't working. ^_^ I kept dying! :?

I got locked into a 1:1 fight with one guy. I told him I was totally new, and we get into a rumble in an open field with no cover. I'm trying to draw a beat on his guy, but he's jumping in circles around me! really fast! :shock: I was using everything in my power to get this guy, and I think he was using the handgun or the crowbar, and managed to smoke me.

This is how I know I suck. I'm no newbie at shooters, but I play like I am. ^_^;;
Like a Punk. :mrgreen:

An beauty! ^_^

But dont worry, it takes time to find a game your great at. I'm still so-so at Counterstrike, and while I love em, I am horrible at battles in rpgs..

But one game I pwned in was operation flashpoint, some miniscular Foreign military sim. *Uber realism*

All you need to do is try a fps from now and then, and see when you find the key to your skills, or just one your good at. ^_^

Granted, you sucked at those, but that was just with a few days or weeks experience. To get very good, or even remotely good, you need to play for a bit, and take losses, as well as victories. It can take a long time, or a little, but if you wanna get good at a game, just as in IRL, you need to work on it, and train. Now, if its not fun, then don't do so. ^_^ But if it does seem fun, even if you lose, continue playing and see how good you get. :)

Man, when I picked up CS, I was lucky to even gain a kill. Now I usually lead in scores. Operation Flashpoint? For about 3 months...I never shot a single person (Again, uber realism with ironsights and so on). If I pick it up now, I can nail a russian a mile away with an ak-47 burst, jump from helo to tank to foot and constantly kill, as well as evade and snipe. ^_^
