Hehe, heated discussion maybe :)

If you haven't read the books yet, I recommend them. I'm not a book reader at all, and so you can imagine taking on this monster of a book was a challenge at first.

It goes a bit slow, and is very long. The last half is better then the first half, it gets better as it goes along. Watching the movies first helped me to understand the who's and what's of the story a bit more. Definitely worth reading, just give it a chapter or a half chapter a night. At first, I didn't think much about it. By the end of the book, I was sad to see it end.

I feel bad for anyone that really cant enjoy both the book and these films. You have to look at them from the right perspective, and not go too "hardcore" about trivial details. The movies will never replace the books, which are the original source.

The books can never accurately be made into a movie, because to make it completely accurate would make it 280+ hours long and full of some stretches that would be totally boring to watch on a screen. In the book, those scenes all work.

Enjoy both. We have both at our fingertips, to enjoy and appreciate. A lot of hard work went into both the books, and the movies. Take what you want from them, just like any other form of art.

Dwarf. :D

Dwarves are awsome, of course. Hearty miners, warriors, and stubborn as mules....

They drink, a lot, and prefer ale among anything. They can keep alive even after consuming enough ale to fill Moria..

Meybbe some of our DJ's are dwarves. *Grins at Tarryk*

Yeah, what he said...

I can't be accurate on The Lord of The Rings because I didn't read the books, yet. I was just speaking from other movies/books I have seen and read that have been twisted..

The little scenes being left out adn all that are not the thing.. What I am tlaking about is in the book "Where the Heart is" the star has a number that she "fears" and the number is 7.. they changed that number to 5 in the movie... things like that is what I am referring to.

You forgot master craftsmen, artists and architects. Dwarves are the children of Aule, after all, and he WAS the Vala who loved crafting so much that he broke the word of Illuvatar in making the dwarves before the First and Secondborn awoke.

/me winks.

The valar were the "Children of Illumvatar", right?

Yeah. Illuvatar created the Valar with song. The Valar created the world with a symphony in honor of Illuvatar.

And melkor/Morgoth created the bad notes.

Sort of ironic.

Morgoth wished to usurp the power that the valar held, I Think.

Sauron took up his reigns, and sort of wished to usurp Morgoth's power (Not bring him back or something).

And then Sarumon probably wished to do the same.

Hee hee hee yeh. It's not that Melkor was making BAD music, mind you. And Illuvatar wasn't all that put out with it at first. It was just that Melkor's music was in dissonance with that of the other Valar. And like most talented, vain, selfish personalities, he just wouldn't let it drop.

LOL Sauron however... for a minor Lieutenant, he certainly did make a lot of trouble. Morgoth wannabe that he was.
