You know, in the last decade or so, the lines between pop, hip hop and rap have gotten more blurred. One person will label a song pop and someone else might say it's rap. We run into that a LOT because people like to tell us our songs aren't the genre we say they are. But music isn't about black and white rules. It's such a creative art that if it sounds good to you, does it really matter if someone else thinks your favorite hip hop song is rap? Do we have to categorize all music under just one specific label? Of course not! We just listen and enjoy... or not enjoy.

This is why I love that we're a variety station. We're not restricted to only playing music that fits into a specific category, which means we're exposed to lots of music we may not have chosen ourselves, and sometimes find unexpected things we like.
Look up Chris Rene. He's an emerging pop/hip hop/rap artist, who I personally think is more hip hop than rap or pop. His style is kind of different and I like it.
