Gary Gygax, the original creator (or "co-creator", as many insist to put it, but definitely the biggest known name) of the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop roleplaying game, passed away today.
Taking the analogy from the AO forums, Mr Gygax was to tabletop roleplaying games (and the subsequent standards of stat-based MMORPGs) what Newton was to modern-day physics.
It was his time, but some tributes are definitely called for in the near future. This is the guy who practically set all the known standards for all the RPG's we play today, from terms like "AC" and "XP" to the post-Tolkein standardization of Orcs, Dwarves & Elves in fantasy roleplay settings.
RIP, Gary.
