I was in court a couple of weeks ago. Testifying against a man up on a sexual assault charge. The whole business wore me out and the end resuly was a hung jury. Unlike the US in Canada they can appeal the result and bring it back to trial so it may not be over yet.
Yesterday as I'm walking past a building a domestic dispute exploded out the door of that building. he's walking away and she's yelling after him that her heads split open... I'm not quite dumb enough to get involved in a domestic dispute but seeing as she was bleeding I did turn about and call the cops.
Damnit I don't want to spend more time in court. There has to be a way to avoid spending a week in court when all I have to say is yeah I saw him there.
And since I was half way accross town from where I live I got several. What are you doing out here type questions. I'm cat sitting for a friend officer.Admittedly I live in the rough part of town and this is the quiet, supposedly, peaceful, alledgedly suburbish part of town. But come on if I was here looking to steal stuff I'd hardly be calling the cops or waiting for them to show up while standing in the rain if I did.
Meh... More proof that people are stupid I suppose.
My Father always said "Just don't get involved.", But me I have to help people.
And of course the woman probably won't press charges anyways. Because she loves him and it'll have been an accident... Smacking you about is not love. It's a power trip. Your protecting him isn't going to make it all better in the long run. Get smart. If your getting hit you leave. Theres so much support for battered women out there that it's plain rediculous not to use it.
Sorry felt a need to vent a bit.
