I have started boiling water for ramen.
But then, totally forgot that I had water on the stove.
Eventually, as an odd scent filled the place, I raced back to find I had left the pot on the burner, now totally void of moisture. The whole thing, handle and all, was hot as hell. I needed an oven mit to get the pot (by the handle) over to the sink and cool it.
I've done that a few times.
