I don't think it is a matter of race honestly. I think it is a matter of what is being taken. I have no problem with food, water, soda even being taken. But TV's tennis shoes (by the dozens), tv's(There is no electricity wtf are they thinking).

I am going to give you a little snippet out of my life yesterday morning. Went to sam's to pick up a matress and box springs for my nephew. While I was walking in, a man yells at me SIR SIR. I said, can I help you? He goes into how he is from kennet, louisiana and asks if I will give him 5 dollars for bus fare back. That he had been staying in the extended stay hotel not far from there. I said, sir, there is no reason for you to return there at the moment you will do nothing but endanger yourself. What I will do is give you a ride to my church where we are housing many folks from the affected area or I will be happy to take you to the Red Cross facility. He said nevermind. Now granted this was not an actual person from down there but a pan handler. He was dirty. So his lie saying he stayed in the extened stay hotel was a bit much and it truely pissed me off.

Then I got home and was watching CNN. When a woman told reporters how they had food and water but the food was not fit to eat... Military issue MRE's, I about wanted to go kick the woman in the head. Granted they may not by chef prepare meals but I can tell you they aren't that bad and they are designed with all nutritional value needed (They even come with a small bottle of tabasco). As I am ex-military and have eaten my fair share of MRE's I can tell you. They aren't that bad. But the audacity of a woman complaining about the food she is getting just pissed me off.

I served our county during the persian gulf war. My uncle served it during vietnam. But to have people kicking the very ones in the teeth for trying to help them, that is much like while in school in the military, a coiuple of my classmates and I went to the mall we didn't have the privilage to wear civilian clothes yet. A group of long haired headbangers made this big scene as we were walking by saying quack quack waddle waddle. I calmly went over to them and said, you like your long hair? Or even the shirt you are wearing? Or the ability to even sit here and make asses of yourselves? Please don't make fun of our job. We are doing our job for you. And that is the way I still feel to this day. same way I feel about law enforcement people. They do deserve a certain amount of respect for putting their ass on the line.

That woman saying those meals were not fit to eat was downright disrespectful. Will that make me want to not help the others that are grateful? Sure, cause I will chalk it up to stupidity. Since the disaster there were 3 days where I wasn't able to cook a meal for our group we have at our church. But I go down there and bring my own spices and BBQ grill and make them some nice BBQ. Do I ask anything in return? The thank you a little girl said to me was enough to carry me on til all this mess is worked out.

Pointing finger right now is useless and non-productive. RIght now is the time to be Americans and lend you hands and hearts to those in need. There will be plenty of time to point fingers later. In any disaster, you always take care of the disaster, i.e. clean-up, recovery, and healing. before you sit down and say, who made mistake where? How can we do this better? Right now we are still trying to recover from the hit, people are still stunned by it, people are thinking with pure emotion wanting to hang someone. Until we get done with the cleanup and start our healing pointing finger will be nothing more than self-defeating.

But as I said before, voice your opinions, give your insight, ask how you can help. But to assume the only people that messed up were the leaders is very silly. Leaders are not always in the trenches and that is what separates war heros from the average joe. The war heros step up to the plate and take responsibility AT THE TIME and chance some type of retribution once it is done. A good leader/soldier knows when to lead and when to follow.

In both pictures there however, the people are making off with food and drink from a grocery store.

And in both cases, it was the media not regular citizens or the President, the fed, state or local goverment who used difference of race.

If your going to blame anyone for playing the race card, or showing racisizm blame the media first.
Why give flowers to anyone? They wilt, they die the dry out.
