Scrubs <3

Granted: I don't watch TV. Therefore I've never seen an episode of Scrubs.

Watched the very first two episodes tonight on DVD and laughed myself stupid. I love catching late trains on great hooks, LOL.

/me surprised! As we know that Tarryk doesn't watch much TV. But Scrubs is pretty witty.

I'll use this as my selling point for LOST. I beg of ye Sci-Fi fans to do what you can to get the first season DVD's (I don't suggest watching the current summer reruns, as non-sequentially, it would prolly not make much sense). ABC definetly is not known for quality products over the last decade, but LOST is a diamond in the ruff. Especially in the chaotic swarm of reality TV trash, LOST is story telling in the best sense. The interactions between the characters (12 main cast members) are superb, and the speculation of what is actually happening is genre stretching/crossing in every way imaginable. If you do decided to just catch a random summer rerun, it airs on Wednesday nights 8pm EDT/EST. Nomitated for 12 Emmys, not that that would hold much weight, but trust me....LOST is worth it!

I love scrubs. I got the season one DVD's and I got hooked, just like firefly. The acting is good, and the humor is just... hilarious! The janitor is my favorite, haha "Sir Scrubsalot."

Being in Australia* I for once, know what you're all on about! Hah!
Yeah Scrubs is good, they had that at home as well tho', so I knew that. The only "new" Tv show I'll even consider watching. Don't like Tv except Red Dwarf and Black Adder Reruns...

As for LOST. I dunno man, it's good, I'll give you that, but, well, it somehow reminds me of a manga comic or anime cartoon series. Not the story, but the fact the the problems just seem to get bigger and bigger, and wilder and wilder all the time. In the end, I found it every so slightly over the top.
But still, it has it's moments, I agree with you there. But Tv generally sucks, so it doesn't really change anything.

*
The media in Australia is so ridiculously American, that I was worried if I'd landed in the wrong country when I first arrived. But they seem to love corperate media over here. Commercials every 7 min, interrupting any decent sporting event and all these "Next, on Home and Away" crap commercials explaining what will happen tomorrow, like it was a movie trailer... They can't seem to get enough. I hear that the American Media is in fact so big here, that it's considering weather or not it should run for office, possibly be the next PM.
In fact, everything I ever said about America as a flag worshipping money whoring institution... I take it back. I like Australia, but I feel like nuking these people at times. They're so bloody ignorant and self centered it's sickening. The London Bombings. All they would show here, on the news, was that some bombs had gone off, and omg 9 Australians had been caught in them. At which point they'd promptly forget to broadcast anymore news on the bombings, but instead switch over to some "Amazing/incredible/heroic survival stories" from the Aussies caught in the blast. I think one of them had a scrape on her brow. Everywhere around them, there were wounded and dying, and they use this as a chance to promote themselves!?
In the Tzunami. The only thing they ever showed on the media, was how much Australia had gathered in emergency help, in comparrison to the rest of the world. Fuck the people suffering, look at us, we're great...
Don't bother nuking the Taliban... Nuke the people with Nukes!
Anyway, sorry for that Grid-jack...
Yay for Scrubs n' all! (and ridiculously small writing)

Ya, there were some complaints about that exact thing. But I figure the writers (damn Abram) maybe had something written out, and not just playing it by ear. Either way, it's good story telling....and that is rare on TV these days.

On the average, no. But to my mind they had one of the best over the last 10 years in Sports Night(which of course got cancelled after 2 years :( )

Scrubs is a reference show. There is no show in its genre that can match it's quality. And to just have seen the first two episodes is a sacreliege. The show get's progressively better through each ep and each season. I know because I have them all. So kudos to you for discovering one of the greatest TV shows to date

And since everyone else gives their two cents here is a list of shows that are obligatory to wath if you have ever enjoyed anything syndicated in your life.

Lost as mentioned earlier. (be prepared to feel cheated and cliffhanged after watching almost every episode, but the series in its entirety is a masterpiece)

The Shield (time to flush NYPD blue and it's cohorts down the nearest public shitter, the shield is also a reference show with awesome writing and some really innovative character development)

Family Guy (this needs no comment, seriously.. It doesn't... Really.. TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER AND BUY THE DVD'S!!!!!!)

That should keep everyone busy for a couple of weeks.

I plan to watch more Scrubs, and I will definitely be checking out Lost next chance I get.

I "might" check out Shield, but I've yet to see any cop series that can keep me from scoffing and saying "Homocide pwns this." I was spoiled by the greatest. :)

Family Guy is too hit and miss with me. One episode will give me a couple good laughs, the next will give me none at all. I think it's because they try too hard, making it less funny in my eyes. So, not a fan there. :)

My eyes bleed! And I cry the tears of immortal shame Tarryk. You say they try too hard? I cannot let that argument be uncontended and I propose this to you: Family Guy times their jokes differently than your run of the mill comic shows. I have yet to see anyone even come close to that apart from mabye Invader Zim. Family Guy sure takes the piss out of The Simpsons on a comparative basis. Or it could be that you just don't find theese kinds of show fun at all.

Regards Dr. Jan Itor.

I love Invader Zim, and own many episodes. Not a huge Simpsons fan though, save for a few select and rather hilarious episodes. Family Guy falls between the two for me, I guess. One could write a thesis on any one person's layered senses of humor, and I'm no different.

I think all in all, it's a LOT more difficult for me to find cartoons funny than live action. Don't know why, since I always "get" the humor, it's just not as funny as it would have been with a RL actor doing a hilarious reaction shot. Just wacky me. :)

Iz very ztrange ye. I don't get the RL actor reaction shot though. Since family guy does so much that I find funny that would never work with RL actors.

At least we agree that scrubs rock. It's nice with some common ground. Now to find someone that doesn't like scrubs and let them have an earful. =D

Although the most hilarious cartoon comedy moment for me is when the Plukesians turn up in Invader Zim. Perfect scripting and perfect voice acting in that scene.

Scrubs is the funniest show on television.

Arrested Development is the 2nd funniest on television.

What do they have in common?

Despite being sitcoms, they break the mold of "3 camera sitcom with a laugh track". They depend on the JOKES to tell the audience when to laugh, not a preprogrammed laugh track.

Ok, ok, easy now. Scrubs is good. No doubt. But it's not the best. The best have already been, and they will never be beaten! Simple as that.

Python.
Red Dwarf.
Black Adder.

These are the hight of comedy. It's not just jokes, it's bloody smart humour. Many people think python is all about slap stick. It just goes to show that you don't get it at all. This is intelligent humour on a massive scale. Sure, there is slap stick, but every single scetch, has some sort of historical hinting and meaning. They were all highly educated. It's such a shame no one seems to know anything about Python except that "John Clease was in it, wasn't he?".

So while Scrubs is hilarious. Family Guy equally so, they just can't compete. I'd gladly watch them all tho ^^

(And yes, I was raised on Python. Bottle fed one might say. So what if I took a little tiny bit of brain damage from over exposure. It's done me good I say! GOOD... NI!)

For the record, if you disagree, you're a turnip! (Get that, and I'll be highly impressed)
