I hope that interest in the movie will trigger a network to pick up production of the show again. It was left with so many loose ends it bothered me. The premise of the show was a really great one, and I always did like the "steampunk" type genre. The idea that space really will be a final 'frontier' due to limited resources on colonized worlds, and that we'll see a lot of colonists making their own way much like the old west I think is a realistic one. While technology will be abundant in space travel and on Earth, colonists will need to be self-sufficient and interprising to survive, and I think this show did a great job of demonstrating that.

Ooooh damn. My brother showed me the firefly DVD's about a year ago, and after watching them, he told me that they were making a movie.

I almost crapped my pants.

I can't wait!!!

*nods at Foxy* I agree, frontier scifi is one of the most under-done subgenres. I absolutely love when outer space is put to the wild west test. :) I'll definitely be checking this show out asap (I'm bugging my sister to borrow the DVD set tonight, haha).

You mentioned steampunk/steamtech...by the looks of the preview, this wouldn't fall into that, so I assume you just meant frontier/wild west scifi.

Example of steamtech scifi:

I put steampunk into quotes for that very reason. The show was very steampunk in feel, though, for the wild west sci fi. They rob trains, ride horses, save brothels from evil landlords... but they do it with laser pistols. Steampunk was really just the closest genre label I could find for it because, as you said, it's not done enough!

*nods* Probably the closest label you could get for a rather obscure (but fascinating) subgenre, yeah. Agreed, it's not done nearly enough. I can't even think of good examples of it in cinema, not since the comedy Ice Pirates anyway...

Wow...very cool!

Furturistic MA hottie...hmm...how very "Lilu Dallas"

Furturistic MA Hotty Actress > Summer Glau

I'm happy to see Adam Baldwin in something new. It's been a long time since I've seen him in any movies.
