So it's not at all even remotely possible that a person could collect a cigar with no intent to smoke it? There are plenty of people around the world with cigars in boxes that would dispute that with you. What about insuring stamps with no intent of mailing them? Coins with no intent of putting them in vending machines?

The man committed insurance fraud, and I don't blame the insurance company for "letting" him do it - that's absurd. They insured the man's property, and he deliberately set out to commit fraud. If this story was instead about an insurance company that issued a policy that specifically outlined exactly what "acceptable" fire was and wasn't in this case, you'd probably call them stupid for being so anally specific.

Wether it's urban legend or not, it brings (brought) up some interesting views on all sides about Joe vs. The Insurance Company.
