There is one problem Tristal...

The gfx card is AGP, and the newer chipsets don't have AGP. Your motherboard only has Pci-Express ... :( I hope it's not too late to change!

That is the problem with the newest generation Intel platform.
New platform i9xx chipsets:
- PCI-Express x16 bus for gfx
- DDR2 Memory
- New CPU socket (LGA 775)

Old (like i875)
- AGP 8x bus for gfx
- DDR1 memory
- CPU Socket (478)

That's what holding me back from going to the newest chipset. If I upgrade I need to aquire a new graphics card and new memory.

Here are the specs on the motherboard you chose:
Supported CPU: LGA775 Pentium 4(HT) Processors
    Chipset: i915P
    FSB: 800/533MHz
RAM: 4x DIMM for Dual Channel DDR2 400/533, Max 4GB
    Slots: 1x PCI-Ex16, 2x PCI-Ex1, 4x PCI
    Ports: 2x PS/2, 1xCOM, 1x LPT ,8x USB2.0(Rear 4), Audio Ports
IDE: 1x ATA 100 up to 2 Devices
    SATA/RAID: 4x SATA
Onboard Audio: Intel High Definition Audio subsystem using the Realtek ALC860 audio codec
    Form Factor: ATX

(No AGP :( :()

I would suggest as an alternative ATI Radeon X700 Pro
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... 430&depa=1 priced @ $198.00 compared to the $270.00 you are paying for the 9800 PRO

Here is a benchmark for the X700 series compared to some others, including the 9800 Pro. Please note that it is X700 XT that's beeing tested.

Or if you prefer nVidia.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... 036&depa=1 the 6600GT @ $199.00
(In the benchmark it seems to perform better in most tests)

It wasn't too late to cancel.. so I cancelled my order. I'll have my husband help me find a different board. Thanks so much hun!

I had to change board rather than card cuz the card was already charged and too late to cancel it :(

Looks like it will be compatible.

Aside from it's beeing AMD it's all good ;) (Yes I don't like AMD personally, but I am sure there are atleast as many who like AMD and hate Intel) hehe. So don't worry about that, it's about taste :P
Maybe someone else could give input on the AMD platform, since I am not to familiar with it, other than I know nForce 3 chipset is the shiznit :)

PS. hmm ... wonder why that MB is refurbished? ..

AMD or Intel it doesn't really matter.. AMD's chips tend to be slightly cheaper (Unless you going 64 bit) and they're geared more towards gaming and power users..

Intel your paying more for the brand IMO

No.. Windows XP. It wasn't my choice.. I had an intel 4 chosen and a friend helped me find some compatable and suggested the AMD. I know nothing about it so I don't know.. I just want my comp to work and go zoom zoom.

Just a few things I noticed that you are missing...

First few are:

CD Drive
Rewritable CD Drive
DVD Drive
(those first three I would suggest only the last two, but if you can't get the DVD drive then get the first two)
You don't seem to have a floppy drive (You know just in case, I never use mine, but it's nice to have it just in case)

Next these things you don't need so much but are nice to have (They are needed to fully reach your inner gamer):
Liquid Coolent (Keeps things running at a nice cold temp)
UPS (Nice back up power supply in case your power goes out, gives you time to get the computer shut down properly)
LED lights (Don't all uber computers need LED lights?)
Network card (You may not have a network in your house but let me explain why this is a good idea, if you have an old computer you can put a network card in that then remove all the things that it no longer needs and take it down to the bare bones. You can then use your old computer as a file server to store movies, music, backups of documents, any other kind of file that is not a program. Also once you have an uber computer you are more likely to be invited to LAN parties, and to be able to attend one of those you NEED to have a net card in your computer)
That cool glove... let me find the link for it...

Ah here it is... go check out the P5

And lastly, to become a true zen gamer you need to get "The Journey to Wild Divine"

So if you don't have these things already you need to get them. (I need to get a few of them myself, like the glove. Going to wait on the liquid coolent and led lights until I get a new computer myself. This one is just to unuber for that.)
Image
(Kioko drew that.)
The crazy Cow Monster
(I should make a D&D monster of my self that is good for a party of six lvl 20 characters.)

The drives were ordered seperatly and the case comes with the lights. As for the other things.. If they're needed later on I'll get 'em.. but right now I'm on a budget so I only got the neccessities.. Thanks though! :)

UPS (Uninteruptable Power Supply) is a very nice thing to have to protect your investment from power spikes and power outtages. It's not a requirement, but it's definitly on the wish list hehe :) I myself have one UPS for each computer at home, and a huge sucker for my server.
Mumon wrote:LED lights (Don't all uber computers need LED lights?)

Who need neon light? I prefer a computer stylish without neon :) They don't add to performance last I checked so :P

You didn't read the tech spec then dude :P
