I don't think it's going to be that bad. It's based on the book and not the original movie (in fact the original had the title changed for commercial exploit for the new wonka candy line that was created along with the movie).

I'm a little apprehensive about Depp being wonka, but it might work out.

And if you play Infected Mushroom while watching anything, it makes it weird ;)

that trailer was spooky... I love Johnny Depp as an actor.... but he looks like he belongs in Clockwork Orange... Not a kiddo movie...

Yeah, there was something not quite right about him..

Spooky? The original movie was creepy as hell. Gene Wilder looks like a pedophile anyway, then they put him in a purple suit, surrounded him with orange midgets, and stuck him in that tunnel for the "rowers" song... I don't know a sinle person that saw that as a kid and didn't have nightmares from that scene alone.

So this remake looks creepy? Good. The original was creepy, Wonka was a nuckin' futcase, and all but one of the kids were absolute demon spawn. Looks like Burton did a great job to me.

And from all that I've heard, the book is very different from the original movie. In fact, Roald Dahl, the author of the books, despised the movie and refused to sell the rights to the sequel because of it. So just because this movie looks different from the first one doesn't mean it's a screw-up. Just means we get to find out if the people who wrote the first movie were right where the author was wrong.

Quoted for truth. I was never creeped out by it as a kid, but after seeing it a few times since adulthood makes me realize what a twisted movie it really is. Johny depp will just be a different type of creepy than Gene Wilder, not necessarily more or less so.

Um...holy bizareness batman. Christopher Lee isn't playing Charlie's grandpa Joe. That would've been awesome and creepy. He's playing...

Willy Wonka's Father?

If anyone's ever reada the book they'd know that it's supposed to be freaky. Almost all of the kids are killed in their journey through the chocolate factory and Wonka IS supposed to be an absolute freak.

Tim Burton directing with Johnny Dep as Willie? Hmmmm...should be interesting to say the least. I just hope they kept the oompa loompas :P

hmmm... this looks interesting. If it's at least 50% as good as the original it's worth seeing

I LOVE Jonny Dep... i just think this is the wrong role for him. I really think that Jim Caery would have been a better fit but he's doing that other movie (where he really looks like Michael Myers a bit) - whom also could have done a good job as willy wonka.
