My Thanksgiving was going great until...

Postby Vallikat » Fri Nov 26, 2004 5:38 am

It was a generally good holiday for my family. It was light on guilt, at least as light as it gets for a holiday. The food was great. Everyone, for the most part, got along. We ate until we were so stuffed we could barely move, and then we had pie. yum. ... and then...

My son, who has a broken ankle, decided to shove a pen up his cast to scratch a bad itch. This wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't decided to shove it in there lid side first. As I'm sure you can guess he now has a pen lid shoved up the side of his foot, almost to the ankle. My mother and I tried every possible implement we could come up with to get it out (fingers, tweesers, needle nose pliers, ruler, wire hanger) and only succeeded in getting it even more stuck. I even thought of the crevace attachment for the vaccuum. That was completely useless. So I'm guessing this is going to mean a trip to the doctor tomorrow, which means taking off work, which I won't get paid for.

*sigh*

Ok, so that was mine, now you tell yours...

See, let me give you a bit of a history. As much as I am the PIMP, and a ladies man out here, I am really a caring, kinda, gentle soul whom like to make friends, and hang out. Seriously. So Here i am, at thanksgiving, having moved back in with my family, and we're enjoying ourselves and cracking jokes, and just having a good family time where out of no where my mothers says "Well next year i'm going to see my son's girlfriend and my daughter's boyfriend at the table"...

A bit of a flash back shall we... ever since I've hit puberty, my parents have been almsot forcing me to have a kid, want a grandson, thought I was gay, found out I wasn't gay (because they asked me), wanted a grandson even if I were gay, tried hooking me up with a girl, thought she was gay, thought I was gay, want a grandson.

Mind you, these are the same two people whom taought me how to respect women, be kind to them, and be a gentleman. To find the person that you want to love, and to cherish, and have fun, not to sleep around.

Back to the present... my mother knows I don't have a girlfriend, I don't know about my sister, but this damn lingering situation has hung over my head to long, and all i could do was look at my mother as if she had two heads. Now, this isn't bad, and I'm SURE that someone has something worse (i.e. Vallikat)...

BUT GODDAMNIT STOP TRYING TO FORCE WOMEN ON ME!!!!!!!!!

Mine was very nice...despite the fact a certain member of my family tried her best to f#ck it up. My father, sister and I had a wonderful holiday (with Kira, of course). :)
I may be retired, but I'm GridStream for life.

I had the standard. Eat at mothers with mom & grandparents. Talk about sister.

Then go to sisters, eat with sister and two good friends, talk about parents.

Leave, wondering why we can't all get along, but content that I'm the middle-man and get to see both sides of the fence during the holidays.

Oh, and feeling bad that my little sis didn't get to hang out in either location because she has to work on the holidays...and at the same time feel totally envious of her.

I feel sorry for you all. Mine went off without a hitch.
We had a turkey, we ate it. I have a huge extended family (8 aunts and uncles) but we pretty much always have thanksgivings to ourselves.

I said maybe a total of 160 words to my extended family, watched TV in my room with my cousin and played X-Box, where I harassed him about his flock at school (he's a ladies man unlike his cousin - me). Somehow all of them found out about how I've become a DJ here... and they were asking me about it.

The turkey was moist and plentiful, and the stuffing was herby.

Other than airport troubles for Kitkat, my holiday rocked. I took her to the airport for flight attempt #2 which went smoothly (she was supposed to leave wednesday night, but the weather shut down the airport while we were there), then I said "fukkit" to all the rest of the family plans and came home to a nice, quiet, empty house and had a relaxing evening to myself (for once). No traveling, no bickering, no stress. :)
