RL Birthday

Postby Mumon » Thu Nov 18, 2004 6:24 am

All right, so my Birthday is on November 21st. Looking at the calendar I see that I have work that day, so I think to myself I still want to do something.

So here is what I'm thinking, I want to let everyone know that I plan on going to that comedy place at the Frandor Mall on Tuesday. (I think it either is part of Trippers, or near Trippers)

So two things...

  1. Can anyone verify it's location and name for me?
  2. Can anyone that has been there let me know if it's any fun?
  3. Anyone in the Lansing area want to come?

Now let me let you know the next part...
I want to ask this girl I know to come, but I don't want it to be a date persay. Not that I wouldn't mind asking her on anouther date, it's just that I just want to try and hang out with her too. So I would like to be able to say to her honestly that other people will be there and that it's just going to be a casual birthday celibration.

If that doesn't make sence much to you, then don't worry I'm a compicated sort of person. Just know that I do want to know if any of you are interested in coming.

I'll go with the painfully honest: If you are coming to a forum that you frequent to get dating advice, I'd prolly just not even bother asking. Sorry Mumon, I love ya bro, but wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Mumon, Zephem has the best answer for you, be yourself and just chill. Use Zephems line he gave you!

1. Yes it's basically in Trippers. The moment you walk in the front door, Trippers is on your left and the comedy club is on the right. Can't remember the name of it, though.

2. No idea if it's fun, never been there myself.

3. Yes I'd LOVE to go hang out with you, but that's in the middle of the ARK Expo, and I'm not sure that I'll have any opportunity to tear away. :(

4. A date for Mumon!! Woohoo!! Act yourself and chill out, duder. Acting like anything else is the equivalent to lying to her.

Going down the list realy quick...

Already planed on using something very simular to Zephem's line.
Not here for dating advice, but here to see who might want to go to Trippers.
So far, I am able to be myself around her. I'm not worried about that.
And ARK Expo? Eep... where has the time gone. Ah well, ARK's cool and all, but I think that you would all agree that if I decided to hang out at the ARK Expo instead of tring to hang out with this girl that when I call myself the insane cow monster that I wouldn't be RPing.

Hum.... someone that I don't think even plays AO (And before you comment, just because someone doesn't play AO that does not make them boring)... and you want me to not only try and get her to play AO for the first time, but go to an ARK expo and explain to her what the ARKs are as well as what AO is... while I'm at it why don't I explain what GSP is also.

OR

I could go down to the tattoo parlor and get a tattoo of the word NERD on my forehead.

Tryin Inkporoum. It's only a couple of blocks from Frandor. Ask for Bob, he's good.

hehe, j/k bud.

Zephem has the right idea for ya, definitely. Be very casual about it. Too much pressure on a first date (even if it's not a date, per se, but you would like a date to eventually come about) can kill it before it even starts.

My gf lives in Lansing, and I'll be there this weekend. Not sure that I can make it to Trippers though, but I'll see what I can do ;)

And as for asking for advice in a forum - one that you frequent with people you talk with on a daily basis... What exactly is wrong with that? Cut the kid some slack Otori. I'm sure, at some point, you've done the same.

Thing is, already went on a date with her. It went well. Was thinking of something more casual than that.

I'll admit that I did ask for advice around last years halloween... but you all heard how that turned out.

Found out something between then and now, if you don't expect anything to happen then you'll have more fun. When I asked her out last time, we had great fun watching a movie then grabing a bite to eat after word.

I'll let you know that there is alot of information I'm not divulging about what's going through my mind. My hopes had been to find some people in lansing that might want to go to Trippers this Tuesday. As Tarryk has already pointed out though Ark Expo is going on though.

For me priorities at this point in time: Try and find ways to spend time with this girl. Then if that doesn't work out, have fun with AO and the people that play it. (As you can see by inviting you all to trippers, I was trying to cheat a bit already and combine the two)

For you priorities at this point in time: What ever, have fun, do things, enjoy yourselves. If that's with the Ark Expo I understand.

You all keep on telling me to be myself, and that's great advice and all... and so far I think I have been being myself. I'm fairly sure I've not been pretending to be Otori. And myself says to me that yes dating her was fun, but a "date" persay is something that makes it much harder to be ones self. Myself says to me, try to hang out with her now, and see if that works, risk inviting her to something that you invite your friends to. Myself says to me "DO NOT INVITE HER TO YOUR HOUSE YET!" becaue myself reminds me that it's a pigsty. Myself says to me your birthday is around just around the corner, have fun.

All anyone ever says is "be yourself". How come I'm the only one to whom everyone says "And for God's sake, don't act too much like yourself". Weather I'm meetin parents, other peeps friends. Dying relatives or what ever. Man! No fair!

But then, I have this rather obvious inability to not be 100% me. Get's me in all kinds of trouble. The whole "people don't know you, they didn't know you were joking... For Gods sake <insert my name>, they're crying!" is getting a little old. But then, I get that here too ^^
Sarcasm is so hard to read they say. Well, apparently most people don't seek it in the spoken language either. Not unless it's overly obvious. The dry bitter version, I find, people tend to missunderstand... Bah! ^^

So, if you're anything like me, don't under any circumstance be yourself... unless of course you find it fun (which I do) in which case sod 'em all! ^^

That aside, I'd love to join you, but there's the slight matter of a 10.000$ plane ticket I'd have to finance first. So I think I'll have to pass mate ^^

I gotta ask, is askin people to hang really that difficult over there? I know our cultures are a bit diff' 'n all. And I know what peeps do is diff' (and that I in no way fit the norm regarding how I approach people. Just opening your mouth seems to do amazing things, for good or bad) But is it really that bad? S'how I've met most my friends (male, female, people I've dated)... Simply said we were headin out, 'n if they fancied taggin along...

Erh, I'm sorry... I totally forgot what this was about... Think I might have side tracked, heh. Oh well, GL with what ever the whole point was mate.

Oh, and before I forget:
Mumon wrote:(And before you comment, just because someone doesn't play AO that does not make them boring)

Too late. Yes it does, claiming otherwise deems you a heretic and worthy of a fiery death!
(My GF doesn't play, but I keep telling her it's not her fault that she's afraid of all the fun things in life, like movies, AvP, AO, the internet or Steve Jackson games... She usually tells me to sod off, but I think she's just oppressing the denial!)

Same guy as before, couldn't be bothered typing Mumon again as I figured it'd take to bloody long, tho looking back at it it'd prolly be faster than this tittle... Oh well, live and learn ^^ wrote:I could go down to the tattoo parlor and get a tattoo of the word NERD on my forehead.

You say that like it's a bad thing?

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering... Yeh, I'm in a frightfully good mood today ^^
