Been listening to GSP for a while now, though relatively new to the boards. This subject has inspired me to make my first post. I may not be overly qualified to comment on this subject as i am not an American citizen or an American. However since the Iraq war my country has had more involvement with the U.S. and U.S. politics than i can previously remember. I shall state at this point that i am English and thus i hope you will understand my position (even if you don't agree with it). For several weeks now all we get on British T.V. is the U.S. election race and i can see full well why.
Mr. Blair and Mr. Bush seem to have a very commited relationship of which i and the majority of british people disapprove of. To say that my country went into Iraq by Americas side with pride and honour would be a lie. It was a war we didn't agree with and i expect it will be the reason Blair will lose votes next time. Iraq has been a huge political issue over here as i am sure it has been over there, and feelings Tarryk and others have expressed about the Bush administration are wholly supported by most people in my time zone.
I hope for all our sakes Kerry wins, even if he is the lesser of two evils i can imagine that the outcome is going to greatly effect Britain, especially with Mr. Blair still unfortunately in power over here.
I'm counting on all of you american voters to out Bush not just for your sakes (because you people deserve better) but for the world's sake.

heh, no pressure

/rant over.

hope i've not offended anyone by speaking my mind, i fully understand if you feel i have no right to comment on this.

PO-LI-TICS. Okay.

PO: They cheat and steal from the po' people
LI: They lie to the po' people.
TICS: Blood sucking leeches that lie, cheat, and steal from the po' people.

I don't mean to sound cruel, those aren't my intentions at all. But I don't agree with some of the things that our country has come down to. I mean, watching the debates...anyone else as dumb-founded as I am?

I don't know who is worse.

BUT because of who I am and what I (as stated by someone before) was raised to believe was 'right' I have to go out and vote tomorrow for the man. Then watch the man celebrating (possibly buying his troublesome twins and his wifey botox injections) while I figure out how to make ends meet the next time they decide to raise taxes and cut the moolah.

I'm tired of the contradictions, but well, politics was never my thing.

*Tosses in her 50 credits for her thoughts*

Thanks for listening.

Wow, wow, wow... You're actually voting FOR bush!? How can you vote for a person you don't even back up? Vote for whom you'd like to see sitting for the next period. Even if it IS the lesser of two evils it's still better than just voting cus you were told to... If that is your oppninion on the matter, rather you not vote. Don't just give a vote because you were told to. Backing up the wrong guy for no reason is almost worse than just being passive.

I fear what tonight will bring... Either way, Europe will NOT be unaffected... And we can't even vote. Ain't that just a bitch :?

While I'm not 100% british (just 50%) I whole heartedly agree. Bush has made America a very hated country in Denmark as of late, and I understand why. We went to war as well... We're 5 million bloody people, why the hell were we sent to war? It had NO effect on us AT ALL and yet we were sent. If Bush wins the election, Europe will be in for it... AGAIN. We have no influence, we have no rights, nor can we vote. But it almost effects us as much as you. He is the most imcompetent thing that has ever reigned, and he's the one with the biggest influence as of yet. The world has gotten smaller, your reach bigger, and consequences more dire. Get this maniac out of the white house and away from anything that could potentially harm a human life anywhere. The guy is a menace to human kind, and I do not dare think what will happen if he wins...
All I know is, it will not be America alone who pays. So for Gods sake... For our sake, get that psycopath out of power!

I cleared out the big picture that was causing posts to go off the screen. Interestingly funny, if not very old pictures. Seen 'em. :)

I fear what tonight will bring...

Me too...and I'm of the same mind regarding voters who don't care.

If you are in the underneath-the-rock, don't-know-don't-care class in regards to how politics affects the world, then not only should you not vote at all, but they shouldn't even LET you vote.

On the even more disappointing note, it seems to be exactly that type (those who are uninformed about the political state of america) that always say they're voting for Bush. Therefore, if he wins: well, we know where the majority stands in regards to intelligent guesswork, don't we.

(RE-EDIT: No, I'm not saying that someone who votes for Bush isn't intelligent...but they are almost certainly uninformed...and uninformed voting is...well, not intelligent)

*sighs*

I'm maintaining my optimism. I think the results are going to be surprising. I'm also leaving open the option of moving to Canada. :P

I'm glad Im too young to vote this time. Sometimes I have to wonder if voting for the lesser of two evils is just as silly as not voting at all. If Kerry gets in, we might have someone who is only a few scales better than Bush. That's the best we can hope for? Then I don't see much reason to be patriotic..

Though the comparison is far too dramatic, it will feel like someone demands me to decide between Hitler or Stalin. I would rather throw away my vote and vote for Nader in symbolism.

It's apparent that the world voted Kerry. I only hope if Bush is re-elected they try and realize there are a major number of americans who would gladly partispate in a harmless and clean ousting of him from office.

While there are many yanks who would gladly oust him peacefully... The rest of the world would just as happilly stick him in a rocket and fire it into the sun... Heck I'll even do the count down ^^

Canada's choice of staying Britain's loyal son longer than we did appears to have paid off. ;) You guys seem to be a lot more free of jackalization and jackassrey than we do!

Now start arranging to make refugee camps for all the Americans who are going to up and get the hell out of here!

Ok, are we surrounded by idiots? The economy goes to pot, we lose over a thousand lives in a PRE-EMPTIVE strike with information that crumbles every single day since it started (I swear I heard cheny say they never said Osama and Saddam had connections...), and Bush is winning?

I'll take wormtongue over Sauron. Thats all I can say.

*Actually, I'm going to put Bush as Gollum. Why? An obsession over something else, with total tunnel vision. ;) Even if Kerry has enough Botox to play the role  *

I honestly don't get this. I heard nothing but criticism of bush from my generation. I had no knowledge that virginia was a Conservative state. How friggin long is it going to take for us to shed these puritan views?

Kerry, despite the flip flops, offers something that is manna from heaven to me. A man who has a religion (one that is often commented on being rife with ignorant followers) and is able to apparently keep from inforcing it on others.

One more term of bush might be too much for America. He will be able to do almost anything desired, with no fear of re-election. No more playing to the favor of the sides hes against (women, homosexuals, liberals, people of any friggin religion different than his, abortion and stem cells...ectera ectera).

4 More years? 4 final years is more like it.

There's a government that knows what it's talking about. Why, for the love of all things holy did my government agree to a second gulf war?!!! I fear four more years of being Bush's little european b**ch. I think i'll move to France.

and that is the most frightening thought for us all.

Sure it might look grim, but for God's sake, you can't move in with the frenchies... That'd be suicide. They like us as lil' as we like them. It's in the genes man, it's not ment to be changed. Why not Germany, or... Austria... Or Japan? WHY FRANCE?!
You have a birth given oath to dislike the buggers. It comes with the territory. Besides, with the racism they got there lately, I'd not think France is a lot more tolerant.

That aside, I'm opening an asylum in Denmark for all ya poor souls... We need to get ya fake ID's tho, cus Yanks aren't exactly the hot topic here lately...

You're right, forgive me. Germany is a far superior choice, France was just closer. Maybe i'll just go north and settle on a remote Scottish island alone away from all politics.

I can think of worse things, for example George Bush winning the election (which it looks like he will goddamnit!). So i ought to start seriously planning my relocation.

Any ideas for a country whose stereotypical foodstuff isn't revolting?

There's a McDonalds in every country.

It's just the cup sizes that are different.

Denmark has a variation of sweedish meatballs... They're kinda nice... And tbh mate, how can you talk about revolting food?.. You're a Brit!
The english kitchen hasn't evolved for the past 800 years (with the slight exception of all the indian food that's been introduced)... Anything should be welcome!
