New System - Yay I Get a Real Desktop Now! :)

Postby Tarryk » Sat Oct 02, 2004 4:23 am

Okay, so having 800 more mhz and better ram (same amount, 512k, just faster) is helping hugely. I can now have an actual DESKTOP image without it actually lagging my system during DJing. Happy day!

*thinks tarryk just wants to show off the artwork*

And for good reason if that was it. That's awesome, dude. Who's the artist?

Yeah, well, I always wanted to show it off AS my desktop, but refused to since I couldn't actually use it.

No idea. Found it literally years ago in an archive somewhere, had it stored away for usage since.

 I never knew a desktop image could cause lag. I guess you do learn something new every day.
Thanks T!

On a 1.0ghz system with 512 SDRAM and a bargain-basement motherboard, yes...yes it can. In horrid ways.

Great looking wallpaper Tarryk. Gotta love mostly naked, long-haired anime chicks with big swords. I have a few of my own at home as well.

As for backgrounds causing lag? Well of course they would. The background is a very large image, depending on what resolution you run your display at. This information is loaded into system memory, and remains there during your entire use of the windows desktop, even when you run a game.

It's good to hear your system is performing a lot better now Tarryk. What might look like a minor upgrade can actually work wonders on computers. Gotta love it.

Moronwind? Now who would want to play that?
The game looks sweet and inviting for a bit... But it's just too easy. Get a flight spell and a bow and you can take out anything... Shame really... It had a lot of potential.

That aside, wicked backdrop there mate. Beats what I have ^^
Got a forest right now, not cus I like it, but I play AO in windowed, and I find brighter colours hurts my eyes when playing at night. (Which I have to to tune it... Damn you! ^^)

Always. Q3A rules, specially the jump maps. And esPECIAlly with my eD-3D glasses. :)

And yep, even Morrowind. That's more of a recent endeavor, and I guess I sorta like it. I LOVE the aspect of it's open-endedness, but at the same time I'm left wandering around just to discover things with no idea if I "should" be doing anything. Much as I love open-endedness in any game, I guess it's possible to actually take that idea a bit TOO far. :)

You just summed up what I didn't like about Morrowind perfectly. I never thought I'd find a game too open-ended, but that game was.

S'odd. I found the same thing, exact same girl sans the wings. Would post but something ain't airbrushed!

Morrowind is one of my all time favorite games, If you can win the game by flying around and shotting stuff with a bow your playing a different game than me :)

I did finally beat the main story and it was increadable. I went with magic first and had to learn the sword when alot of my spells started to be reflected back at me :)

Gah! don't say that. It's suppsoed to be "I finaly reached a very rewarding conclusion to the main story!"

You aren't supposed to beat the story, a story is to be enjoyed and experienced, not beaten.
