Hey folks. I thought I'd swing by and drop a Firia-happenings update bomb. ^_^

So I recently got a brand spankin' new job. It's got me working evening shifts, and making reasonably good money. Since I work evening shift, I can't get onto my Roomies computer to often (esspecially since he just got Doom 3. Ugh! :-P ). I've gotta wait for him to like, go out... which is rare. Ya'll know how that is, being glued to your computers. ;) Anyway, my jobs fun. ^_^ 'caaaaaause...

... I work in a strip club. :P

As a waitress fools! I ain't strippin' nuthin for no one unless I gots the want and need to do it myself. :-P Though other dancers keep asking me if I plan on dancing eventually. I tell them, "No, no one wants to see my broken rythem." :P

I make gooooood tips where I work now. I used to work two jobs (cumulitive to about 55 hours a week), and I still make more money here at this waitress gig than either jobs combined... on just tips alone! Plus I earn state minimum wage ($7.17/hr, 40hrs/wk)! It's pretty sweet! :P

I've FINALLY gotten a break, and now I'm on the winning end of the income barrel. (Some may recall when I was hurtting for food cause I couldn't aford anything to eat. So much so that Tarryk was gonna buy me a pizza online. :-D awww, we wuvs our T-man. ;) )

Now I just gotta get along with my co-workers. There's alot of undesireable human traits swimming around the employees of a stripclub. It's a rat race for tips with the waitresses, and if you can't cut it, you'll lose big on your income. There's alot of greed. Alot.

And I won't lie -- I partake in the greed thing myself too. The moment I hit the floor, I become a hustler. If you can't speak very good english and you failed to understand that your beverages were free, I will take whatever money you hand me (you can tell tip money from paying-for-a-drink money).
"*heavy spanish accent* How much for des drinks?"
"Whatever you want to give me, hun."
"*Hands waitress a $20 somewhat reluctantly*"
"Thanks babycakes! ^_^ *walks away to wait on someone else."

It's awful! I admit. I'm sorry.

The esstablishment is no different than me. Hell, I'm mild-mint in comparision. For example, you may buy a dancer a drink to like, show your appriciation or whatever (the drinks go towards paying dancers Rent to preform at our esstablishment). The smalls are $10, and the larges are $20. To start with, the soda pop served doesn't even cost a full 10 cents a glass to the managment. THEN the glass is filled to the brim with ice cubes (this actually is to the dancers benifiet since through the day, she may recive 10 drinks, all sugar'd to the core. That's weight gain right there. ^_^) to give the illusion of fullness, and make the drink run out faster so's you buy the girls more drinks. And here's the worst part; you've got two sizes -- Large and small... Both served in the same size glass with the same amount of ice. ^_^ Large and small, 20 and 10 bucks respectivly are really the same size.

"The customers don't know the difference between the sizes."
Yeouch! ^_^

The dancers have a code beverage for when they don't want a soda drink, but don't want to upset their new "friend" by ordering a 20 dollar large water. ^_^ "Diet Sprite" is really foutain water.

Negitive qualities aside, it's the most interesting work enviroment I've ever been in. VERY lax in their sexual boundries (like sexual harassment and inter-office dating things). By dancers, I've been spanked, groped, stroked and so forth. Do that in the recention area of Merril Lynch (I used to work for them), and you'll get MORE than fired. ^_^

Despite being felt up so much, I actually don't mind much. The dancers gotta keep a possitive persona around them, so it lends to a possitive enviroment. Unless I feel gross, it doesn't bother me at all helping make these women more appealing to the men by lending to a lesbian element. ^_^;

Anyway, I'm talking peoples eyes out. I'm doing well, and hope you are too. ^_^

Lap dances for everyone!! :P

Actually, a shower when I get home is always a must. ^_^ I leave smelling like two things; cigerettes and sex. It's not even me giving lap dances, and for SOME reason or another I smell like all the dancers came up to me and started rubbing their junk all up on me. ^_^;;

And I've got VERY comfy and cute shoes that I wear on the floor. ^_^

One thing my other jobs had that this doesn't; medicare and other benifiets. I may make good money, but if I break a leg or something, I'm fuuuucked. ^_^;

Great to hear from ya Firia! :D You take care of yourself on this job. I know that environment all too well. Great money, but so much "other stuff" to try to avoid.

You let me know if anyone gets too handsy. I got a corpse cutter and know how to use it. ;)

What's all this nonsense about picking a stage name! Firia is the PIRATE QUEEN! Can't get any cooler than that. I can just see her swinging her cutlass at an overly groping customer.
Maybe we shoul all chip in so Firia can open her own club with a pritate theme. Free flowing Grog and wenches.... and plenty of tips for the hostess with the mostess

:D Good to hear you are doing well Firia, and just remember to declare your tips in April :P

Hi Firia!

I'm so glad you were able to pick up a good job that you actually seem to enjoy. I'm not all that surprised that it ended up being in a strip joint. It's odd, the sense of adventure and fun that working in that kind of job generates... I know. I've been there. Not as a waitress, but as a dancer.

Having been there, I feel it neccessary to offer a bit of advice. You can use it or disregard it, as with any advice I offer.

1) No matter how nice, friendly or cool your co-workers might seem, do NOT trust them with your valuables. Ever. In the past, I was releived of money, cosmetics and expensive clothing by my very cool, very friendly co-workers.

2) I know it seems fun and exciting to have physical attention paid to you by the often very pretty people who work in your establishment. But... *makes an odd grimace* PLEASE be careful. A lot of dancers are not at all careful with their health or with the health of the people they "date" after hours. It may seem all harmless to have a sexy woman rub her coochie on you, but from an enteric standpoint... well let's just say it's a health risk.
To be completely blunt and insensitive, BEWARE of AIDS, Hepatitus B and Herpes. All it takes is one scratch, cut or abrasion and one dancer with a disease and your life is ruined or ended.

3) As glamorous as it may seem, the adult entertainment industry is anything BUT glamorous as you get deeper into it. Greed is the least of your worries. There often IS sex in the champagne room. At least there was in Baltimore back in the day. NEVER allow your employers to pressure you into doing ANYTHING you do not feel 100% comfortable with. I left dancing because there WAS a lot of pressure to do things I was COMPLETELY uncool with. Sometimes easy money isn't worth the hidden costs.

4) BEWARE OF DRUGS! I have never worked in or heard of a strip club that did not have a lot of drug traffic going on behind the scenes. Marijuana, Ecstasy and other "feelgood" "party" drugs are going to be making their way into your life as an employee of a strip club. I know it sounds corny, but if you're wise, you will just say no. The girls there are very likely going to try and make these drugs seem really appealing and some of them may even try to pressure you into at least trying them. DON'T. Please don't. While I'm pretty open minded, I am also experienced and I know what I'm talking about. A lot of the drugs you're going to be offered are addictive. Some of them are very dangerous. Just stay away from them. You don't have to be a narc and turn people in for offering to sell you or give you these things, but NEVER accept them. It's not a question of morality. It's not even a question of legality. It's a question of your personal health and safety. DON'T take risks with drugs. You will regret it if you do.

5) If you allow it to, a strip bar's atmosphere and culture can change you in ways that are less than positive. I'm not really talking in a moral sense either... it's more of a deep psychological deal. Prolonged exposure to being treated as a piece of meat by customers, employers and coworkers can and often does have a serious impact on your self esteem, the way you feel and act from day to day and the way you interact with others out in the real world. Unless you have an extremely strong sense of self worth and an unusually resilient personality, I HIGHLY reccommend doing no more than a few months time in the business, saving the money you make there rather than spending any excess, then running for the hills to find yourself a less psychologically damaging career.

I know, I know... I sound like such a downer. I'm sorry. I don't mean to be. I'm just more than a little concerned for you. I think you're a very nice, very sweet person (enough so that I care to see you succeed and be happy). I'd hate to see you fall prey to the pitfalls of your new job. Please, please, enjoy yourself. Take pride in your job and don't let anyone look down on you for it. Just be CAREFUL, Firia. I don't want to lose you to the same diseases I've lost other friends to. And I don't want to see you suffer for having a lot of fun while making enough money to dig yourself out of the shitty hand that life dealt you recently.

*hugs*

Much love and more hope,

Alexa

Werd to that Saintly Booty. ^_^

In my two weeks at the club so far, I've been exposed to just about half of what you've mentioned. Thankfully nothing's been stolen, and there hasn't been any sex (that I've been aware of) in the VIP room. I have been offered drugs (mostly pot) on several occations.

And I'm pretty aware of the negitive qualities behind the stripclub. I'm a fairly good judge of character, and even more health consious. STD's are more than on my mind at every turn. I'm extreemly cautious. With the quality of people I work with, I sense shady qualities in everyone, so I remain leery. I'm coy, friendly, but no one gets to close. If it comes to me considering dating someone from the club (I shudder at the idea of dating some of the customers... ew.), their ass is getting a STD testing before anything happens. ANYthing.

We have lockers to put our stuff in. I still need to get a combo-lock though...

Thankfully, I havn't been placed in any situations where I've had to preform any tasks against my will. I was afraid that it'd happen, as per the rumors that float around in the adult ent. industry. But so far, so good... *knock on wood*

Like I said, I enjoy where I work, but I remain leery. I just do my job, nothing more, nothing less. ^_^

Oh, and as for my sense of self worth? I've got as good a sense of that as any girl! :P ... and if that tells you anything, I should tell you I've got that rollercoaster version where I feel great, then shitty. Though I've got very strong ideals, beliefs (not talking about religion), and morals. These things help me keep true to myself, and I belive help me see clearly in the shady nature of a stripclub. I only hope it'll be enough.

I gotta admit; I'm a fairly large woman. Not fat or anything (though, I've put on weight since the time I was starving and losing large quanities of weight a week); just big. I'm tall (as are all women in my family, though ironicly I'm the tallest at 5'11"), and just big (think Milly Thompson you Trigun fans. ^_^). I was told by a flirty guy tonight after work that I look like I could probably kick someones ass. I told him I definately could. But anyway, being a big girl teamed with trim tiny pretty waitresses can can be a bit of a blow on my self esteem. I stand a head and a half taller than either of the girls (two others), and the dancers match my height in their 6"+ pumps.

Other than that, I do fine. ^_^ Still, I'll keep your words in mind girl, and keep careful. Words of wisdom from someone previously in the biz helps me out alot. So far, I've had no outside help, and I've been going in blind.

I'm glad I've got friends on the outside. :-)

Coltess wrote::D Good to hear you are doing well Firia, and just remember to declare your tips in April :P

Actually, I'm rolling with some of the shady aspect of the club. I'm noting down that I earn only 10% of what I really make. eg; if I make 10 bucks, I note $1 earned in tips. 100 bucks? Oooh, a good night, I officially made 10 bucks 8) these totals will be declared in april however, fer sure. ^_^

Well sounds fairly good Fir!

Bootay covered my ass, now I don't have to make a feeble male attempt at warning you about the situation you may be in. :?

And personally I prefer taller women - 5' 11" isn't too tall by my estimation!

Hope things continue with the same amount of success & nothing to muck it up very much! :D

Who says being tall isn't sexy???

OMGz! Firia, the Tall Blonde is a beauty archetype. Just FYI, most female supermodels are majorly tall. Or at least they were in the 80s and 90s.

Don't let ANYONE make you feel less beautiful than you are.

Oh. And FFS don't get a boob job.

If you still look anything like the pic I had to do you on, I'd not call that large by any standards...
You're actually as tall as me, which means you're about 2'' taller than the majority in Denmark anyway... That's not a prob, just means peeps don't get a sore neck from datin yer! ^^

My GF's no more than... erh... (/me calculates) Arh, 5' 4''... That right? (1.58, european standards) which is not very tall... That presents one or two... well, if not limitations, then at least trickier situations than had she been my size... So, being a lil' taller is by no means a bad thing...

Oh, and just cus you ignored it doesn't mean I'll ever forget... You still haven't done me! ^^
