Funny thing is I'm all for this topic, but it seems to have shifted to the other side of the spectrum. We were discussing the merits of having gay marriage be legalized, but now we seem to be discussing the merits of traditional marriage.

Traditional marriage ordained by the church is history! And by that I am saying it has been around for centuries and has changed very little.

What this thread was began as was a talk about a very new alternative form of marriage that will quite possibly be freely legal in the U.S., as I think it is already in many other countries around the world(many not all by a longshot), just as soon as Bush is ousted from the White House.

DRagonfruit & Ichy - you guys seem to be coming from the stance that marraige is a Religious Ceremony. But the fact is, in the U.S. you can go get married in a church if ya want(or as SaintBoo points out, if they allow you to), but if it's not formaly recognized by the state or city you reside in you may as well draft your marriage certificate on the back of an IHOP placemat in crayon - it will have no legal ramifications unless the state/city files the papers. And although I know that is not your arguement, I guarantee you folks who are deeply religious would turn deeply political the second their marriages would be allowed without getting any tax benefits!

OK I think I'm done for now - let the flames ensue...

When I say take off the tax breaks, Im refering to the ones that specifically were put into place for child raising households.
