Postby Pierced » Wed Mar 03, 2004 2:24 pm

Hello :D
Is this where GSP dancers hang out, or they have another spot?

They definitely do hang out here. Are you a new dancer, perchance?

I'm not a GSP Dancer, no. But thinking of applying some time!

I could do with some professional tutoring though.

Pierced (shortcut bar): 5 5 1 8 3
Tutor: No no! 5 5 1 8 4!
Pierced: Darn, sorry, think my screen died...
Tutor: Like a punk?
Pierced: Huh? Oh yeah... punk. 5 5 1 8 5
Tutor: *sigh*

Um...that's what the shortcut bar is. Macros.

Although you probably mean scripts. :)

Personally, I don't like scripts. Sure, it's an easy way to do a full dance routine, but you're literally stuck with it. So if you write a long one, you can't talk while it's running until it's finished.

Odd... I've always been able to talk during my scripts. Are you sure you're right Tarryk?

Actually no I'm not sure. I speak from experience of a little over a year ago when I last used scripts. It's conceivable that they considered that a bug and have fixed it since then, and I just didn't know about it.

I'll write up a tiny script and check then.

If you start to type a chat line or command while your script is running, when the next action in the script kicks off your chat will cancel.

But I have a script called "stop" (I think it has /delay 1 in it) which works well.

Go faaar into Pandemonium, find the three, take 3 steps east from it, then 67 steps west, there you will find a X, dig up the chest there, use the compass that's in the chest, follow where the arrow points, when you get to where it points you will see a LARGE monster, kill it and loot the "Musical Ingot" it drops, go to Inferno, give the "Musical Ingot" to Mordeth, then he spawns "The Spirit of Doom",talk to him and ask about the weather, go to the location he tells you, then talk to the person at that place, that person will give you a "Holy Beer", dont drink it but give it to Ian Warr in East Foul Plains just after you kill Peter Lee, but before you kill Ris Lee, then he will warp you into the office of Philip Ross, talk to him about flowers, then he will warp you to Reets Retreat, and THAT'S where the GSP Dancers hang out...

That sounds like one crazy initiation, Drobie. You go ahead, and I'll follow, eh.

*waits for Drobie to start the trek*

...

*runs off in opposite direction and takes a whompah to Stret West*

Having screwed around with some scripts (not macros) if you use the /delay command you are able to talk inbetween them... but that's only but so long mind you.

Yes OK I said macro when I really was thinkin bout scripts, and yes you are kinda limited as your script is going cause the next line of the script that comes up will cancel any chat line you were trying to get out. Solution might be to try and craft scripts with somewhat decent pauses in them at times that fit well with what the script is doing so as to allow you to get a quick word of chat in those spots, and then also know your scripts well enough to know when those spots are so you can take advantage of them. And if anyone is at all insulted you didn't respond during your script's lifespan, hopefully yhey will understand you are in the middle of a script and unable to freely reply, or else hopefully they will be able to understand as you explain it afterward...

You can do that, or you can take the easy path; grid/whoompa to Borealis, whompa to stret bank from there and voilá you are at Reets :D
And if you are very lazy you can always have someone warp you there hehe.

didn't I already say that?

as for in-script talking.. well I have a button for "hello %t" :)
and I run in a window most of the time, so have a copy of notepad open, I type things in there and copy&paste into AO when I need to..
