Shadowlands has killed the game I grew to love over the past year and a half.

Back when I started as a n00b, AO was fun. I would get home from work, and the only thing I wanted to was play AO. It was the definition of addiction. Since I started AO way back in May 2002, I have gained many friends, and alot of respect. When alot of us were young, and OP Elite was *the* armor to have at level 200. Back when I could log on for 2 hours, run a mission or two, maybe kill some unique, and log off, knowing that I accomplished something. When there was a real Sci-Fi feel in the game, and gameplay issues werent the first thing on my mind.

How times have changed.

Now, I have raised one character to level 200. Several others across lvl 50. I have a set of what was some of the best armor in game.. But shadowlands ruined that all. You cant be a "casual" gamer, and get things done.. a frigging week to get a quest that you *need* to get done to advance. There is no sci-fi feel to the game. Everyone is spread to hither and yon, and it takes 2 hours to get 6 people together to just run a silly mission. I spend more time thinking about how they changed my character, or some new show-stopping bug than I do trying to enjoy the game.

Put simply, the only thing that has kept me coming here to AO is the community. People like all of you, whom I am proud to consider my friends. Now when I log on, all I do is chat. I dont even play the game. I dont want to, since I dont want to get frustrated. I will still be logging on now and then, but it will be mostly to chat, nothing more. In addition... I will be joining Final Fantasy XI when it launches, so you can find me on there... server and character info to come when it launches.

I might return around the end of the year, once FC gets their s### together, but I am by no means committing to that. Right now, the ball is in FC's court, not mine.

Sergeiovich...

Personally, I'm going to miss you a lot. You were one of my first regulars on my shows and one of my favorite listeners. I do understand your feelings. I've never been a powergamer. My main is level 127, and no other alt is above level 60. But, I understand game mechanics enough to appreciate why boredom would set in at this point for many. The main thing that keeps me going in AO is my org and the community.

Best of luck to you, my friend.
I may be retired, but I'm GridStream for life.

I had that feeling... s'why I left!
I tried a few other games, and generally pissed about, but I find that I miss AO, if nothing else, then cus of GSP...
I HATE lvl'ing... I hate not being in a good group (which is why I went back to EQ for a while, at least they know their roles) I hate power lvl'ing and I really, REALLY hate implants!!!
That said, this game can be unparalelled funny (with the right people) in ways no other game can...

I just killed off my main (Oddy) and remade him as an NT...
I don't know... I do that every now and then... Hope I don't get bored with it... If I do, Oddy will be reborn a shade... and stay like that perma...

Oh well...
Good luck to you in FF-XI, I considered that one myself, heck you might even meet my brother, Redningsmand, there... He left AO for that game... So who knows!
