Yea...My personal favorite injury happened only a few days ago. Gary Sheffield (See Atlanta Braves - Baseball) got smacked in the hand with a 90+ MPH fastball. Shook it off and stayed in the game. Don't know about you, but I'd be squealing like a little baby in the dugout.

I know the yanks (no offence) had to show the brit's that they were independant... and thus threw our tea in the harbour (sniff, sniff, what a waste!) But did you have to say:
Well, we're not gonna play your stupid game, we'll make a better one... And call it football! You just try and stop us!
And even then it wasn't really YOUR game... It was a revised version of rugby... Seems a little pointless...

Because, there was only really one little drawback, wasn't there!?... The rest of the world preffered the propper football... To american football...

Although I personally prefer rugby to both of them, I still can't get it to make sense... So I was wondering, you know, if any of you actually knew the reason as to why this all happened...
(Awaits a good beating by the yanks for that one...)

LOL! Silly man.

It means that anyone can steal a picture and say it's them, but there is no fooling anyone VIA phone. The voice gives ALL away. Threx is referring to gender. As in, before cybering, get phone confirmation or you might just be getting your virtual jollies with another guy. Which, for some reason I fail to understand, is not a big turnon for most boi-gamers. I figure if cyberin is your cup o tea, it really shouldn't matter WHAT is on the other end so long as they have talent. But what do I know? I'm just a silly, non-cyb0rzin grrl.

About the whole 'get confirmation' thing, while it might be an appealing prospect for people who don't really ever stop to think about it, is something I don't care to attribute to GSP.

Threx said it, not GSP. We'd like to think we're above such an expression.

Indeed, in reference to this thread, it was initially stated as a joke, but it got carried a little higher from there.

In reference to Threx saying it, it certainly was not a joke, he was quite serious.

In reference to both, it still makes a good rant. Too many people have started using that expression since he said it, and it's one that contradicts the entire aspect of what Anarchy Online is. *loads his verbal assault cannon*

...I wouldn't cyber without the attitude of not caring.

I mean really - you are looking/reading a character that could be anyone/anything, and (like Tarryk went into on the last rant) unless you have a suspension of belief what's the point.. shouldn't matter who is on the other end, other than perpatuating the fantasy.

If you are busy thinking about the person running that avatar - then what's the point? It's like being on Fantasy Island and sitting in your room the whole time.

You know there's an iffyness, if you think it's icky - don't do it.

Hehe, I guess the prob is, some people take it to seriously... I hate to sound all "holier than thou"ish, but we all know, that some people have a hard time in RL, and thus resort to MMORPG's... These people can, and sometimes do, take things as a lil' more than they really are...
And finding out that the person, no matter how fictive, they had the hot's for, was someone of their own gender... Well... Some peeps take it pretty seriously...
Thus, if you can't tell the diff between reality and fiction... DON'T cyber!!!
Goes if you play EQ too... Don't cyber there either... Or if the person's called Bloodninya... DEFINATELY don't wanna do it then... Unless you like rhino's... Or pizza!...
