Postby Darth Bootay » Sun Oct 05, 2003 8:20 am

Hmm. Oklahoma U, third straight game with 50+ points.
*looks at the (1) beside Oklahoma in AP poll*

*looks at the (7) next to Tennessee and the blank spot next to Auburn's name and then looks at the score and giggles*

That was american football... Or baseball... Right?... Cus that made NO sense to me what so ever... So it has to be one of the two...

And just a thought while on the subject... Why the HELL, is it called FOOTball?... While you call soccer, well, soccer... It doesn't make sense!
I know the yanks (no offence) had to show the brit's that they were independant... and thus threw our tea in the harbour (sniff, sniff, what a waste!) But did you have to say:
Well, we're not gonna play your stupid game, we'll make a better one... And call it football! You just try and stop us!
And even then it wasn't really YOUR game... It was a revised version of rugby... Seems a little pointless...

Because, there was only really one little drawback, wasn't there!?... The rest of the world preffered the propper football... To american football...

Although I personally prefer rugby to both of them, I still can't get it to make sense... So I was wondering, you know, if any of you actually knew the reason as to why this all happened...
(Awaits a good beating by the yanks for that one...)

*sighs* Just let me wallow in my own misery...

We can't stop the f***ing run. Auburn has 3 NFL quality backs. We had a good chance to tie it with about a minute to go, but Clausen threw a pick.

Le sigh...

*reaches back and deals a fresh one*

We made football, and called it football, because you're crappy-ass, wussy version of the word has players who go down crying when they get tapped on the knee. I've watched Rugby on TV a couple times, and can't really understand it. Half of the game is a bunch of guys just piled over the ball.

And another thing...

If you get a chance to watch professional American Football...Watch the Raiders. They have a guy named Bill Romanowski who would more than likely be arrested for assault in other countries for the stuff he does on the field. This guy broke his teammate's jaw in practice. He's f***ing nuts in the strictest sense of the term.

And yet another thing...

I'm fairly sure you guys don't have rugby or football tailgating parties. That is reason enough to come to a game or two. There is so much dank food around that the game is almost an afterthought.

One more thing...

You brits are just pissed that Beckham dissed you and trotted off to Madrid...

Note:
Pissed, not followed by off, means drunk out of yer mind, and not angry... To brits anyway...

Pissed off that Beckham left?... Lol! Glad to be rid of him... No single person from manchester likes the guy... I'm no exeption... He's a good player, but he's WAY to caught up in his image...

And another thing (as you so delightfully put it) You think american football hit's hard?... You ever seen the Australian league?
They constantly moan when playing the world league, cus they're not allowed to "tackle" as they call it...

And broke a jaw... boo hoo, New Zealand has a bloke who's crippled, (YES, CRIPPLED) 27 people in one season... the guy is HUGE! Saw him in one game, the guy in front of him got up just before the whitlse, and left the pitch. The coach was screamin at him, but he didn't go back, so they sent in someone else... The whistle went, SMASH, the whistle went again, and 4 guys in white came in and picked him of the field...

While you guys have some nice tackles from time to time, you wear BODY ARMOUR! These guys hardly even wear teeth protectors...

Don't get me wrong, I watch the superbowl when it's on, but I find it WAAAAAAAY to long. The whistle goes, the run 2 feet, get knocked down, and I have to wait through a bloody 2 min comercial break before they start again, and then 20 sec's later... another break...
THAT, my friend, is why I don't like sports in general in america... When the yanks entered FIFA, they tried to have it made, so that football would be a 3 break sport, as it suited their television better... And since they couldn't, they wanted it made, so that every coach had to use both his time outs... Time out?... in a footy match?... The heathens!

But the worst thing I ever saw, was in Toronto, at a hockey match... The players stopped on the ice, at a live game, cus a comercial had to be put in, and there hadn't been a time out... THE PLAYERS JUST STOOD STILL, for 2 minutes, as a comercial ran over the screen and in the homes... AT A LIVE GAME??? It's MADNESS!!!
This! And this alone, is why the rest of the world makes fun of you lot, it's insane! And no one in their right mind can say otherwise... (Yes I know Toronto is in Canada, but the states aint much better)

Bah...I played baseball in high school anyway. Which of course, was kind of a copy of cricket (which I still fail to understand). What I want to understand, is why soccer/football players fall down crying when they get hit. I know it's "strategy" to give your team an advantage...but most of these players deserve acting awards of some kind.

edit: Thanks for the terminology clarification. (Sketchy Brit slang...)

Ok, I agree with you there, nowhere on this planet will you find a bigger collection of drama queens than on a professional football team...

Take Ronaldo... The guy hit's his shin... he grabs his face and starts screaming...

He was awarded by the FIFA commision for this... tho with a 50.000$ fine... not a statue... But 50.000$... from a person who makes 5 mill a week... GET REAL! like he's gonna feel that...
