HARSH WORDS!!! *points excitedly at Xtrophic*

I'm not giving up my opinions, X. I was actually concerned about being banned for flaming. When I was younger, I wasn't so restrained when I posted and it got me in trouble. Just making sure it doesn't happen again ;)

edit: Please check your PMs, X.

I befriend someone not because of their opinion, but because they express it.

I refuse to use Kazaa for music and such, but keep it around for legal uses. Thats bad. If I want music, I'll pay for it.

Now, I will on occasion listen to a song a friend sends me. I get it from said friend over IRC, listen one time, then delete the song, and decide whether or not to buy the CD based off that. I liken that to said friend saying "Hey, here is the CD, see if you like this group, as I know you like other similar ones"

I think my big problem with Kazaa is that you don't know the people you are sharing with, and alot of people that DL off Kazaa don't do it for a preview, but never buy music. I mean, when its a friend sending yo ua song or tweo, its close to sharing your CD with a friend so they can see if they like it, which is legal as far as I know.

I was raised to understand that if you can't afford something, you don't go steal it. But I've given up on talking on this subject with others, as people are vehement on their stance on the subject, and won't change. Not worth losing friends over :P

Im like Palla (a bit).

You guys know how much I like 30 Seconds to Mars. Well, I had downloaded all of the songs on their CD. But, hey, the songs kicked ass. I went out and bought the CD, to show support for the artist, even though I didnt NEED to. I just like to decide where my money goes. I know, the money doesnt really go to the artist, but it goes to the company which publishes more music by the artist, so the moneys not going to them, but the support is.

Same here, though I do admit at times i'll download and not buy the CD.

Then again, I love Celldweller, and will be buying their CD soon, as well as 30 Seconds to Mars.

S'what I've always done...
And Syl, no hard feelings man! I respect anyone who stands up for what they beleive in, it doesn't matter if I agree or not, who is anyone to judge who's right anyway? It's all in the eye of the beholder...

I too was raised in your belief, not to steal, and I never have, not even a damn candy bar... But I just want to know my money goes where I want it to go... It's the same with GSP...

I'd LOVE to go preffered member... but most of that money doesn't go to GSP... it goes to keepin the OTHER stations goin... If they put up a PayPal, I'd donate!... I wanna decide where my money goes...

(I was told by a higher power to not puss out and re-re-standup for what I believe in...so here goes...)

First thing's first, if CDs weren't 20 bucks, we wouldn't have this problem. That being said...

That's all well and good, Odyssee, but shouldn't the money you spend purchasing a CD go to SOMEONE that helps out the process? Manufacturers and Execs get a majority of the money. Fine and Dandy. Without them, there wouldn't be a CD to buy. These guys aren't the devil for what they do, they're the devil for what they charge. They worked hard to make these CDs and don't want them given out for free.

Adding on to that...

I think this is all Funcom's fault and I'll tell you why. If yesterday wasn't a patch day, odds are I would've been stabbing mobs instead of trolling forums.

Lol!

And yeah, I do beleive they should get their share, but by gaining monopoly, they kinda ended their own reign. It's evolution mate, you push som'n too far, and people will find a way around it... S'the way of things...
Once the companies die out, and no more CD's are made, Kazaa will stop, and the circle will start over, with a low price, buy and keep policy that slowly build up again... ut's the way of life...
(Yeah, that's about as likely as me winning the lottery... But it sounded real nice n' stuff...)

w00t...My sig image is courtesy of my first philosophy professor, Dr. Cohen. Half of each class period was me arguing with him, so he never got to go over everything he wanted to. He said that after one particular argument and made me look like a complete goober. *sighs* I miss that man.

What a can of wyrms.

Bleah!

Okay, the RIAA needs to be spanked (and NOT in a fun way) for persecuting the very market they wish to have as customers. Bloody stupid, if you ask me. Buncha greedy, nasty retards, the lot of them.

I SUPPORT filesharing, but not because I want "Free Music". I don't think music leaches are cool. I support the free exchange of music because for me and those who share my tastes, there is no other way to find what I like to hear. There are no radio stations that play MY music. I can't listen to something in a store before buying it most of the time. I'm the one who turns my local club DJs onto promising new stuff. Without free filesharing, I'd not be putting my money into the pockets of the people who sell what I want to hear.

I sample music, discard what I don't like and BUY the cds that have the music I DO enjoy. Sometimes this is harder than it sounds, as many bands I enjoy do not have US distribution. It took me four months to find a place online that sold Blutengel to US addresses. My BF got smacked by the European version of the RIAA because one of the people hosted on our server had ONE Covenant MP3 in his directory. I will never buy another Covenant CD again until they switch labels because of it.

Let me make it perfectly clear that I do not agree with taking someone else's hard work and giving them nothing in return for it. I'm an artist and poet. Copywrite is important to me. It protects my work. It keeps people from taking what I've done and either claiming it as their own or making money off of it. But I'm not going to legally threaten someone or punish them for downloading one of my pictures or poems for their personal use and enjoyment. I find that a lot of people who HAVE downloaded some of my work come back and ask if and where they can buy printed versions. This is good advertising.

The RIAA and other such groups need to pull their collective heads out of their greedy, fat, white butts and get a freaking clue. Before they prosecute themselves right out of business.
