"One of the main features in the next booster pack will be social aspects, like player-made towns and gardens," says Game Director Gaute Godager. The working title is "Towns of Rubi-Ka", a project that will further expand the depth and possibilities in the most advanced Persistent Online World to date.

Oh.

My.

God.

*Screams like some teenage Schoolgirl*

EEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!

Buildable Cities (Just like vehicles, its my "fetish" for gaming), buildable houses, maybe more classes or clothes.

Woohoo!

Listen to Gridstream, chat it up with the high society of Rubi Kai in a Dance hall that was Made by Gridstream, and be able to kill some Omnis afterwards.

Its the Sims online, but not cheap! This will bring me back to ao!!!!!!!

Ahh, yet another thing that made me miss UO is looking like it'll disappear... *Easily* the best thing in UO was the player-run towns. That alone kept me playing even when the gameplay was annoying the bejesus out of me.

Now, if they could just make REAL tradeskills...as in, the type where a character can JUST do tradeskills, and be very successful(hell, in UO most of the richest characters never raised a sword in their lives)... If that happens, I'll forget the name of that game.

I wouldn't be surprised if apartments got a facelift in a Social Booster.
Then again. my advice to Funcom would be shift the "new" apartments
to the player run towns instead...

It's very possible that they have put off the apartment fixes because they were working on this instead, mate...

Funcom can also reveal that a new Persistent Online World has been in the works for the last nine months. The first impressive looking demo is already up and running. With the new title Funcom aims to take the genre to a new level, both in terms of setting, graphics and player immersion. "With the invaluable experiences gained from Anarchy Online we are in a better position than ever to create a brand new and fantastic Persistent Online World" says Aas.

This is the chunk of that article that throws me off...

Especially the first line:

Funcom can also reveal that a new Persistent Online World has been in the works for the last nine months.

They are already into another MMORPG by 9 months?! 9 MONTHS!?!

I mean thats... tremendous. Nine months is enough time to have almost a beta-able product within 3~4 months more...

Now their project they announced long ago was: Midgard, the viking epic MMORPG... they said they were doing away with it to focus on AO... obviously this isn't the whole picture as they went ahead with development of some MMORPG for the last 9 months. So is it Midgard?? Or something else?

So FC has the following on their plate:

- AO Patches
- Shadowlands
- New MMORPG
- a Social Booster

They are literally launching a content giant with this year and with that a Sink-or-Swim mentality I believe for their company...

I wanna get excited about the Social Booster, but I think I'll save it for 6~8 Months down the road when we might here a publish date ;)

In a responce to Tir_McDohl: About the tradeskills, that would be more interesting....

Make traders the most gimped in combat, but able to make so much damn cash, they would be the financers of Rubi Kai.

Maybe let them find any ql of an item in the stores, instead of searching 27 different stores for 1, and make more items to build, so that Higher lvled traders could make vehicles, turrets, apartments, and the max-lvls could easily make cities.

why r traders capabel of making any items ?
they r called trader, and after my dictionary thats a "händler" in germany,
and mainly trader buy and sell stuff they dont make it, for this there r the engis, engis make the stuff and traders sell it then.

Actually there has been an argument floating around for some time on EXACTUALLY what is meant by Trader:

(1) Traders because their nanos deal in "trading" one thing for another. Drains trade skill points from MOB to PC. Wrangles trade skill points to other players at a cost to Trader (same with Health Hagglers except it's HP's), etc.

(2) Traders because all Tradeskills are either green or light blue.

I see Mummu's point about the "definition" of Trade, but the items used to BUILD things are referred to as Tradeskill items (ie Nano Crystal components, stuff to make weapons, etc). A good argument about how good a Trader can be at building stuff is the Apprentice, Journeyman, Maestros line of nanos.....BUT of course, those ARE NOT self only, so they can conceivably make anybody a better builder of items. I played an Engi up to level 108 and got frustrated with having to beg buffs from MP's just to "build" my bot and then having it go OE on me. Thats where I think FC sort of got it right and wrong with the Engis. They prolly thought, well we cant make the skills to CREATE the bot self-buffable, so we will make them at least GREEN skills (TS & MC). I grew my Engi up to be a fairly decent Tradeskill Engi, but still found myself hunting down a Trader for help.

Soooo...I started a Trader, and so far my experience is that Traders are better at tradeskills than Engis, but hes only lvl31....so not much of a comparison.

Anyways....what was this thread about again? :)

Still think we should pool what cash we can get, to buy Gridstream a building, at least. Hopefully a small village as well, hehe.
