When I lived in Florida I had a ceiling fan in my bedroom and it generally stayed on 24/7. One morning I'm sleeping and I wake up to this loud *wham* noise behind me. One of the fan blades had snapped off, flew across the room and hit the bedroom wall about a foot over me. Took me a minute to figure out what happened... I think I didn't realize it until I heard the ceiling fan start making a weird noise and I got up to turn it off. It was unbalanced because one of the four blades was missing. That was when I looked back to the bed and saw the blade laying there behind where I was sleeping.
