The power of GSP

So I know I've been AFK from life for a while, but I figured I'd come back real quick to share this story with you all.

After graduating from Arizona State, I moved back to New York. I'm now currently living in NYC going to Teachers College @ Columbia for grad school.

I went to see Avenue Q, an off-broadway show (which was absolutely fantastic, by the way,) and met two girls from Alberta, Canada. (Edmonton, to be exact.) We had a few drinks, and I found out that one of the girls was a gamer, although a little reluctant to admit it. We starting talking about MMO's, and she played WOW. I admitted that I did as well, (don't hate me, it runs on my Mac,) but I used to play Anarchy Online. While playing AO, I had the opportunity to start with a few close friends, an organization that united a group of DJ's called Gridstream Productions.

She flipped shit.

She had never played AO, but knew about GSP, and knew exactly who I was. She had a total nerdgasm, and we ended up talking about a slew of different things.

Why am I sharing this story? It's not to make me look cool, it's not to brag about how awesome I am. It's to let you all know, DJ's and audience both, that the power of music, and the power of a good thing, can change peoples lives. Even if it's only a little bit, never underestimate the power of a good thing.

Keep it up everyone- Almost 10 years ago we started this movement, and here's hoping for 10 more.

But... why stop at another 10 years? GSP forever! Of course, I doubt AO itself will outlive electronic computers or the sun, but if she could enjoy GSP without AO, maybe we can all just migrate to other virtual worlds, and possibly physical worlds as necessary, and pass the torch to new DJs, and new generations of DJs, until the universe collapses in on itself and/or the Energizer Bunny runs out.

GSP is already more than just AO. It always has been. It was one of the first, it will be one of the last, and it's a pioneer in its craft.

If it weren't for GSP, I may not have had the strength to do college radio, or become an MC, working for Radio Disney for almost 3 years. I probably wouldn't be able to speak very well, nor would I have a way with words like I do now. I probably also wouldn't be a relatively successful Party/Wedding DJ

I'm happy to see that Tarryk and Gridfan are still in the midst. To those DJ's that I don't know, but are now on-air... Keep up the great work. You're a part of something more than just an organization. You're a part of someone's dreams.

When I can get Windows installed back on this computer, I'll be back to see you all. Until then, I'll be lurking
