It has a cool concept, but I am going to not get all hyped until I see the game released and in action. AoC left me with a bad taste.

the concept(s) look cool, the screens.. look like what AO should have :P

in all its got decent foundations, but I wanna know a bit more of the story and how zombies tie into secret societies and evil magic and whatnot before I get over hyped. ex the kingsmouth video had nothing to do with any of the three factions, and the society intros didnt explain much about zombies and monsters. I'm really not a forum lurker at heart, so i'm sure there is loads of information I'm missing, but they'll advertise it all soon enough

That said, it looks great so far and I want more!

PS. Anyone notice in their concept art section their "Now Hiring" images mentioned Dreamfall and AoC, but not one mentioned AO? A tad depressing, no?

I must say I like the concept and after seeing the club thing in the latest video I could see parties having a good reason to fit in as its supposed to be set in a real world.

From what we've been told, which anyone who follows it can tell you is very little, we all live in the normal world going about our normal business completely unaware that there is "another world" where zombies and vampires and cthulhu and all manner of creatures exist. The boundaries between these worlds is becoming thin. That's where we, the heroes* come in. We are capable of fighting these monsters using magic and other powers without the work-a-day world really being aware of it. If you follow the Harry Potter mythology, I liken that part to what they say about muggles being unaware of the magical world: they never see anything properly.

At the same time though, there has been some indication that zombie infestations, such as the one in Kingsmouth, are not entirely random occurrences. There is some indication that there may have been some government experiments gone awry and that is what has either created the zombies or opened the rift to their world...or both.

Now again, this is just the conclusions I've drawn from the very little we've been told. I really could be wrong about any or all of that. I really wish I had more to share at this point. However, I'm one of the kind of people for whom this kind of marketing really works. I'm inherently curious (I am a Kat, after all) so all they had to do was show me something cool every now and again and I'm going to keep poking at it until I find out more.

*It has been made clear to us that there is no "chosen one" in TSW. Unlike in AoC where you are THE Hero, in TSW you are to be one among many all fighting for the same cause. You may belong to a different secret society than someone else so your methodologies and philosophies may be different (leading to fights between you as well). However, one way or the other it comes down to us against them. Protecting the world from evil, one monster infestation at a time.

Let's hope this becomes popular "enough", if it doesn't then all Funcom projects (including AO) will feel the effect.

Pretty much the same information we already have, just from a different voice.

Nice video. Thank for posting it Jez.

No classes or levels. I like that. The game is looking really good. Just hope there is stealth.

Ragnar Tornquist: "The Illuminati are based in New York City."

How did he know that? He's not supposed to know that. We must have a leak somewhere.

It looks very intriguing. I just really really hope this time Funcom has learned thier lesson about releasing horribly bugged, far from ready MMOs so I can enjoy the game from release without the horrible fustration I dealt with in the Conan release. :(

That seems to be the general consensus, Tasty. I can't imagine that they haven't learned that lesson at this point. However, I just hope that EA doesn't push them to forgo that lesson.

This would be my concern as well. Even Bioware, one of the best gaming companies ever, has been affected by EA's money-first attitude and poor QA standards.

While the AoC-launch wasn't all that bad for me, I understand the mindset very well. Given FC's track-record at releasing MMO's (judging specifically from AO and AoC) I'm highly apprehensive on the state of TSW at launch, and also at just how massive the pressure is on the devteam to get it out the door due to the drastic drop of revenue from AoC. True, AoC is still making money (as of Q4 2010, at least), but the last few patches has been met by severe flaming from the community. And also a rather vicious drop in player retention.

All we can do is hope, pretty much. FC's name in the MMO-business is, at this point, even more tarnished than it was during the heyday of AO.
