Sprkly's Quest for 220

Postby Sprkly » Sat Oct 09, 2010 7:31 pm

Three days ago at my Sprkle Party I announced that I'm challenging myself to ding 220 within a month. My fixer who is taking the journey is Sprklyfix on RK1, so add her to your buddies if you think you can help her out!

Wednesday, she started at level 42, and today (4 days later) she's at 62. The progress seems a bit slow so far, but then again, I did stop to do the quest for the fgrid, which took FOREVER. That was teh suck, fo realz.

Thank you's so far go out to Demonloca, Architekt, Despicable, Googleplex, Belzabeth, Mileyne, Anshen, Amonshire, Raysenfo, Skelfir, Slucckitt, Tradinhoe... and a big speshul thank you for Andyadvy!

This thread is going to be a diary of sorts as I meet new people, learn new things, pass along my gratitude, or have any questions. :)

Stay tuned for updates!!

13 levels in a day, bishes! w00t! Now I see why they call it "kiting"... kite teams ftw! I was off pouring myself a drink when I dinged 75, and that's okay with me. I have no shame.

Today I learned that the eremites on the Elysium beach drop DOJA chips... which is awesome because I could have probably killed them at level 60 easily. It would be a good safe place to farm DOJA's when I need to.

Also, I keep getting sent on the same daily mission. It's at some Biomare facility in The Longest Road, but the map directs me to this weird Omni mine and I don't see the bad guys I'm supposed to kill. So I went inside the Foreman's Office, and it was reminiscent of the subways, which I HATE! I don't know if that's where the stupid daily mission is supposed to be or not, but I've deleted that daily 2 days in a row.

Thank you's today go out to Ashey and Zaboo!

You've done well Padawan. The facility you keep getting the daily in, is indeed likely Foremans/biomare and yes, it is located inside an omni mining base (beware of guards). As for the mobs you're supposed to kill... the first ones are Toxic Bloaters?

If so (and this goes for any other daily that wants you to go a dungeon and kill mobs), I'd reccomend doing them only if you can find a team. In my experience, they tend to be too hard to solo and yield little recompense in the form of xp and loot, considering the time you'd be putting into it.

Best of luck in your venture! :)

Yay for progress! Go glitter!

Yup, that's Biomare. BIOlogical MAterials REsearch. Everyone calls it "Foremans" because of that sign over it. I guess the mine forman's office is in there somewhere. You might want to get a team to pull you through there once before you hit 101. So that's what, two days? After level 100 you can't get in there, but there isn't much there for Fixers, so you're not missing a whole lot if you skip it. There's the Gamma Ejector SMGs and the Collar of Amplification that gives you +7 treatment and +10 to any one nano skill. Just right-click it to cycle through them. And a health ring, a teleport beacon (Borealis -> Biomare), a tradeskill bowtie, and some NCU chips.

If you happen to pick up that Biomare daily just before heading in there with a 90-100 team, great. If not, keep deleting it and trying something else. For now, at least. Once you've been through there with a good team though, you'll have access cards that make guards non-hostile. Supposedly, you get a partial reward each time you clear one of the sub-goals on that "kill 3 of each" mission. So if you're past level 80 or so and have access cards, you're likely to be able to run through and pick up at least most of the reward easily.

Even if you don't bother with that, it's always worth rolling for a daily, because there's a decent chance of one that only takes a few minutes, like the prototype software ones. Just remember your treatment labs if you get one of those. Then FGrid as close as you can to the destination. The experimental nanoprogram turns into a DoT (Damage over Time) and snare (nerfs your runspeed) as soon as you enter the zone, so just run and heal your way to the quest NPC and have a little conversation. Ding! Even I can get an easy level in ten minutes with one of those.

It is now day 6 of my quest for 220. I've come 76 levels in the last 6 days. Maybe that's not as good as others, but for a know-nothing like me who has never dinged past 60, I count that as pretty dern good!

I actually pulled an all-nighter last night and gained like 25 levels in a pretty short time... kite teams ftw!! :D I have no shame.

The latest little thing I've learned (more like realized) is that it would be REALLY difficult to do this if you didn't have friends in high places. I count myself very lucky to have a great group of people here in GSP and as friends of GSP who have been really helpful as I'm taking this journey.

Where can I go for the best xp at level 118? Also, what drops DOJA chips at my level?

Thanks today go out to Gigafex, Igotlube, Anshen and Lasseah! BIG thanks go out to yesterday's NT, Thacow!!!

Scheol. Arcorashes and Gluarashes right at the bottom of the hill. They should be manageable at your level. At the level you'd normally have to start farming them for DOJA chips, they're not.

AO-Universe DOJA Chips Guide

Stormyee was right about the level ranges last night. I thought someone I knew had been farming Elysium chips at 110, but I guess not. Unless maybe the level ranges changed since that guide came out. My shade could handle the littlest Arcorashes (very carefully, slowly, and patiently) at 105 I think. At 118, they should be no problem as long as you can pull one at a time, so you're better off saying goodbye to Elysium and collecting the bigger rewards in Scheol.

Of course, at the rate you're going, by the time you read this you might be done with Scheol, too.

Best Exp at 118 - Daily mission from Agency, Elysium hecklers, Elysium Key Quests(Very useful, Sanctuary is a good Item for your hud)

DOJA Drops

Nascence DOJA Chips 1-60 (Nascence Wildlife) High Droprate

Elysium DOJA Chips 61-100 (Elysium Wildlife + Mortiigs) Medium Droprate

Scheol DOJA Chips 100-150(Scheol WildLife)Low droprate

Adonis DOJA Chips 150-180(Adonis Wildlife) As Common As The wood of the true cross

Penumbra DOJA Chips 180-200(Penumbra Wildlife. Mostly the Panther mobs)Rare droprate

Inferno DOJA Chips 200+(Inferno Wildlife, Mortiigs And Inferno Missions) If your lucky

Pandemonium DOJA Chips 200/210+(not sure) (Raid Mobs) Rare

At this point, Don't Hunt for DOJA chips, They're mainly a bonus if found

Main mobs that drop DOJA Chips =
Panthers(Penumbra)
Rafters(everywhere)
Mortiigs(Elysium and Inferno)

I wouldn't suggest Inf tiigs for farming DOJAs. Dryad mobs are easier to farm.

I learned today that you probably shouldn't join up with a kite team with a bunch of strangers. Apparently they can be quite mean sometimes. I politely accepted their terms of 2m creds per level, and a single level later when I asked the guy in a private tell if it was okay for me to be doing research, he told me that made it 4m per level if my research was set to 50%. I had it set to exactly 50%, and accepted his terms, hoping to catch a quick level or two and complete some research.

So then this guy accuses me of bumping my research to full, even though I told him it was at exactly 50%, and boots me from the team. Wtf? I'm not going to name names and get him any hate tells, but that was so not cool.

Right this very moment I think I'm level 138 or something like that. Progress is happening, but my couple of days off this weekend slowed me down a little. ;)

Massive thanks go out today to Anshen and Harasint! The opposite goes out to that mean dood... hmph.

See if I were you, I'd grab the nearest friendly crat *looks at Anshen*, put them in a headlock, and be all "You're escorting me up to Ado if it kills you!" and would leave those silly lazy weirdos in ely kite teams behind!

I'll be all "Do not mess with my wife! The only thing she has set to 100% is her awesome!" And then I will kill him with a stick and pee on his corpse or something.

EDIT: that had a severely lessened dramatical effect with my current avatar.

I canceled this week's Sprkle Party. I'm really sick. My lungs are melting I think, and I feel like I've become a bobblehead.

I don't know if my all-nighters spent in pursuit of 220 have been a catalyst in this illness, or even a factor at all, but I do humbly request an extension on my 30 days due to unexpected illness. I should be in bed and unconscious, doped up on NyQuil (notice the big effing "Q"... I'm a Denis Leary fan!), not sitting at my computer.

So how about an extra day or two to make up for the ones I'm going to miss while I lie in bed trying to kick this thing from my system? Seems like it would be okay to extend my deadline directly proportional to the time I have to take off to recover from this respiratory catastrophe. ;)

I'm just going to quote me from your other thread:

ValliKat wrote:Hey hon.

My two cents?

The goal of 30 days was imposed by you. Only you can decide if it's realistic or not. Anarchy Online is a game. Period. It is surely not worth risking your health over. If you can't meet a goal you set in an online game because you got sick, I wouldn't hold it against you and I surely wouldn't expect you to feel any level of guilt over it.

You've set a goal to get to 220. I'm sure you'll get there. For whatever reason you want to do that in a short period of time then I'm sure you can make that goal as well. However honestly if that happens in 30 days or 45 days or whatever, it's still quick.

You need to take care of you primarily. I think your character will survive if you take a break.

Almost exactly what I proposed in the other thread. I think it would be fine to take a couple days to hunt pumpkins, too. Otherwise, pushing this quest into November takes time away from that (unless you're leveling on Uncle Pumpkinheads). That's just how my own priorities go, though. I can't get enough of the holiday events.
Anyway, you can figure that out later. Just take a break now and get better. 138 already is pretty good. At what level should she go back for the Scheol quests? 150? 175? I've only done the first step or two of those, but I hear they have really good XP rewards now.
