Try playing it for a teenager and see if they hear anything.

It's awful! I had to shut it off very quickly. It bothered my right ear especially. I wanted to shove an ice pick in there to make it stop! I'm usually sensitive to sounds anyway. I can hear stuff even my oldest can't, mostly the television. I turn it to my comfort level and she complains she can't understand them talking. I turn it to her level and it's so loud I could hear it with cotton in my ears.

It's irritating, but not to the level that everyone else seems to be bothered by it!

Gotta agree with this, I can hear it fine... doesn't bother me all that much, its just a high pitch tone.. not all that bad... but then again... since it seems such a nuissance to some... hmm.... *plots global domination*

Yeah, I heard it but I'm kinda used to it because a few years ago the guys in a lot of my classes played it for fun just because most teachers couldn't hear it. Then again, the ones that could hear it yelled at them for it :P

I heared similar sounds on the old fridge here, not sure what was causing it, maybe the power converter it was a high pitch noise like that.

I tend to have good ambient hearing, but in general I got typical hearing.
I had to turn the sound up a bit to hear it, then again I listen to music at surprisingly low levels so my volume is often rather low.
