Recent increase in division between the playerbase and the lore.

Lately I have noticed a drop in appreciation of the story within our beautiful Anarchy Online. It was obvious when I started the Xan content released in the recent booster pack.

I was starting the A-F segment of the new playfield when I noticed just how bad people have ignored the new story unfolding in the outlands of RK. Instead of getting to read through the dialogue I had to copy and paste it into a notepad file to skim through later. Everyone else was rushing to press "goodbye" and get on with their race for lewt. Not that I think they are horrible people for not writing an evaluative essay on what one NPC states, but they are surely missing out on a decent bit of immersion. Eh, each unto their own.

Over the last few days I watched the animated series again, flipped through the backstory, and started reading Prophet Without Honor. Suddenly it dawned on me of just HOW good the AO universe is. The fall of earth, emergence of the Solitus breed, and the origins of OT are all great little snippets of lore.

Seriously people, go out and get the Prophet Without Honor PDF file. Apparently it was made free a while ago. Ragnar did a great job with this story and I wish more books where released like it was originally designed to expand.

Here, I'll even link you to it.

Thanks for that link -- I've heard of it but never read it.

Cheers for that...I know one of my mates went looking for the book a while back and had no joy so its cool to at least have a digital copy.
