I'm sorry to hear about this sort of destruction. I'm more used to hearing about this sort of thing happening in California.

While the Aussie Prime Minister has promised to rebuild I'll lay odds that what will get built will not replace the housing lost by poorer members of the community who will get pretty much nothing as insurance companies will claim act of god and the government money will go into wasteful projects to build million dollar condos and the like. We've seen this happen in New Orleans and at every other disaster site in the last 3 decades. But that is the way out global society works. Those who can afford the loudest lawyers get served first.

Hope nobody you know was in it's path.
