I need to win the lottery!

Something which may possibly be bad has happened to me at work today. I'm trying to see the half full side of things, but right now I'm kinda' pissed.

I work for the State. Due to certain political things going on with the end of the term for our current Governer, some people are being "temporarily" moved into other positions. As a result, I'm going to have to do a job I don't necessarily want and I won't be getting paid anything extra to do it, despite the fact that it is a higher pay grade. I'll probably be in this role for 6-9 months.

Now thing is I could find out that this ultimately turns into a good opportunity for me (and that is of course how all this was spun when they told me). Right now though, it's not feeling like it.

Between not being paid more and not being given a choice, I'm a sad Valli today. :(

Well it's good they didn't "downsize". Times are tough for a lot of Americans right now. Having a job is a Godsend at this point :-/.

You've gotta be careful when they downsize, jobs tend to fall down the back of the sofa.. did you look down there when you lost it?

Yeah for 3 years. Then I decided it was time to give up on ever finding the old job which is how I landed where I am now. :)

That is the suxxorz! You can make it work for you though, look how you have done so far with your current position. You had to give up one thing for another, and it has turned out pretty well I'd imagine. Keep up the good work and more good stuff will come! :D

I've always wondered if you threw a Vallikat up in the air if it would land on it's feet.. and someone else beat me to the test! Bah!

Well, think of it like a temp job. You may be working for less money in a harder (or more confusing) job but at the end of the contract you really do have a chance of getting signed on or promoted into that pay grade since you've proven you can handle it already.
