Moveis To Watch Pre-Labor?

Postby eadaoin » Thu Jun 12, 2008 7:08 pm

Hey, folks.

This kid is being a little stubborn (just a little), so I'll most likely be checked in to the birth center overnight Monday and induced Tuesday. I was hoping to put some DVDs on hold at the library, but my brain's a bit scrambled and I'm not coming up with much. I'm looking for mostly upbeat/comedic films to help get me through that first night. Any suggestions?

Thanks muchly. :)
I shall call him 'Squishy,' and he shall be mine, and he shall be my Squishy.

Hackers and Serenity!! :)

also what's upbeat, hm...

Star Trek: Generations is still a long-time favorite sci-fi of mine, i like the humor in it

for pure comedy, there are the greats (but you have to share my skewed taste in humor I think) such as Ace Ventura 1 & 2, Harold & Kumar go to White Castle, Dirty Work (the one with Norm MacDonald), Rush Hour (the first one), ... er, that's all I've got for now, back to work with me.

Ok, it's not a movie but: Seinfeld - The Chinese Restaurant

You probably can't get that though. :) I can personally attest to the fact that it took my mind off of labor. This episode was on the TV in my labor and delivery room and I was supposed to walking the halls to speed the process. However, I found this episode to be so funny that I ended up watching the whole thing. I had never seen an episode of Seinfeld before in my life at that point, but Jerry and I bonded through my pain. So anyway, if you can get your hands on Seinfeld, I highly recommend it. :)

Oh and I'm not much of a movie watcher, but I can never tire of Indiana Jones and the Ark of the Covenant.

A very under-rated comedy, Surf Ninjas.

Office Space is still a favorite comedy for me. There's always Mel Gibson movies, too. :D

40 First Dates is a good one. It has a cute love story but with a lot of comady thrown in.

I'm an idiot. I was thinking of Mel Brooks, as in Spaceballs and To Be or Not To Be. Yeah... I usually describe directors, producers, actors as "that guy that did that movie... I think he had dark hair." I fail.

Well, she's here.

Well, she has Star Trek: Generations, Ace Ventura The Producers, Monsters Inc. & Tommy Boy. I managed to forget to Bring Firefly, but since I only still have the iPod copies it's kind of a pain to watch on anything other than an iPod it gets so blury when it is stretched out to a decent resolution.

The Princess Bride and Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler)should give you some good laughs. There's also Shakespear In Love, which is romantic and incredibly cute. But watch that last one first... ya might need Happy Gilmore to take the edge off. :P

Well, now that the water is broken we get an e-mail saying that Office Space and Serenity are ready for pickup :P

I do have to laugh at one thing though, we're watching Star Trek: Generations and I do believe Eadaoin is the first person in the history of the world to see Walter Koenig and say "Hey, that's Bester!" I just can't believe she's managed to never see Star Trek before, that poor deprived girl. :P But at least she knows Bester, which is good, Babylon 5 was a great show.

Aye B5 was great... I dont know if it is just that people associate him with Bester having not seen him in Star Trek, but he did age quite a bit also, looked very different as the years passed..

However, hope all goes well with sprog-dropping

Well, I defiantly see him as Bester, even though I've seen far less Babylon 5 than Star Trek. Thought I did just do a B5, Crusade and all the Movies marathon. Now with six seasons and seven movies it took a while to finish, but it means that Eadaoin has seen a lot more of B5 than of Star Trek, which at this point her experience has been half of Generations and some Enterprise, she's actually never seen the original series, and only one episode of the next generation.

Oh, and by the way, I dropped by the library so she has Serenity to watch now, of course by the time it showed up she's not to interested in watching anything anymore.

Well I'm not sure if the movies were a success or not, but we have a baby!

Congratulations to the new family!
