Spinning the Advertisers

I know I've pointed this out to a few people before in tells, but with the increasing frequency of this and other Chemistry dating commercials..

Watch:

Then scroll down..

...

My brain condenses that commercial as "Chemistry.com - We're full of eHarmony rejects" Sure makes me wanna sign up...

Feel free to throw in any other commercials ya people think aren't quite getting the message they want across, they're pretty damn funny for me.

There's a whole lot of commercials that feature that, "REJECTED [by E-Harmony]" stamp. EH is pretty much for the middle aged catholic american, so, if you don't fit the bill, you probably fit the stamp to a T. :)

My favorate commercial is the guy;

That's still my favorite, too, cracks me up every time. :)

Can I apply to Eharmony and see if I get rejected without paying them anything? If so, I think I'll give it a shot just for poops & grins. :)

Yeah, you can... However, if you're depressed, have any gay tendancies or select 'other' for religion, you're round-filed.

Next question, then: Supposing I do pass (which, if I'm even remotely honest, I'm sure I won't), will people be able to contact me if I don't pay?

Goal: Without spending anything, I'll lie to pass, and if anyone ever responds, I'll just email them those youtube clips. :P

People will be able to contact you, you won't be able to contact people without paying. Oh, and eHarmony gleefully emails others about your 'interest' simply because you're 'compatible' by their standards.

Woohoo! So I'll be an instant hit in the mormon community or something.

Hm, perchance the angled approach: Take the test to pass, but wherever there might be freeform text to add, I'll just insert some outlandish crap.

32 M Protestant, live on a ranch, love to cook, run track, and watch all the fun bits of "Brokeback Mountain" and "Priscilla: Queen of Desert" while ritually slaughtering small animals with a spork. Message me today!

That's outlandish? I don't think that'll even get you flagged...

Now, if you said that you weren't a feverent Shrub supporter, they'd be at your door with pitchforks within the hour.

You could try something like uh..

32 M Protestant, live on a ranch, love to eat the flesh of recently deceased animals after killing them, run track backwards, and watch all the fun bits of "Brokeback Mountain" and "Priscilla: Queen of Desert" while using my imagination to ritually slaughter my obnoxious neighbors with a spork or dull spoon. Message me today!

Isn't spork a product from Leisure Suit Larry 7 or something...?

Oh, and on commercials that come across the wrong way... how about this one?

HOLY god that's all kinds of wrong LOL!! I can't believe that ad would have even made it past a marketing consultant (and if so, they need to be fired)

oh, and:

It wouldn't surprise me if there was spork references in LSL7, but the term itself is valid. It's those half-spoon half-forks that just about every fast food restaurant and school cafeteria has in abundance.

One of the bands that I was in during high school called ourselves "The Sporkfighter's Guild". We had anime-style renditions of ourselves drawn up wielding sporks as weapons in various ways. I loved that shtick, want to find a way to bring it back. :)
