Classic example why Fox News can not be trusted. Period.

Doesn't surprise me that TV is basically going to war with videogames...but it sucks especially since Mass Effect is such a good RPG...and its not like sex scenes are waiting around every corner anyway.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

So it's just like prime-time TV.

Well it is no secret that TV has lost a large majority of its Viewers to Online gaming I know I watch less and less TV and spend more and more time in AO.

Indeed. And, in furthering the parallels between FOX and the RIAA & MPAA: instead of embracing and investing in a powerful new medium of entertainment, they get paranoid and wage war against all progress.

*sigh*

Aww, so hard to decide who to hate more Fox, or EA.

Still haven't forgiven them for what they did with Origin Systems after they bought it, hoping biowae doesn't go the same way but not counting on it. Course Mass Effect is still new enough to be untainted by the evil that is EA.

As much as I hate EA for so many reasons, Origin was doing fine under them til the whole "You made UO, go do that and only that" thing. They made Privateer 1&2, System Shock 1, and almost all of the Wing Commander and Ultima series after being bought by EA.

Game development's a hard road. Most companies have to choose between having every single game you're working on be your last if it flops, or giving up creative control for financial security.

Bioware's got a bit more leverage than Origin did though, as every single title before Mass Effect they've made (including the ones back on the SNES) were done before they dealt with EA. It's not exactly like Bungie Studios and Microsoft, but I bet if things went to hell they have the money to buy the contract out if needed or put up a hell of a fight against EA's general brainlessness.

The Mass Effect sex scenes stuff is so blown out of proportions it's ridiculous, thanks to a few loudmouthed lying right winged religious extremists.

The worst you'll see (check youtube, videos can be found there) is:

Male player character female NPC (or wise versa I guess).
Some hand holding, kiss, hips close together, then fade to new angle/shot, dark lights, seemingly unclothed, camera is angled above the bed so you only see a hand stretching upwards into the shot. that's it pretty much.

For the female player and female NPC it's a bit more,
hand holding, kiss, hips together, the left arm (of the player I assume) reaches around the left of the waist and touches the small of the back. change shot to bed, one crawls into the light, dark/dim lights, very sensual really, face to face and....that's it.

How that managed to become "thrusting a hand into the others crotch" is beyond me, (it was the small of their back, com'on) some of those puritans have a dirtier imagination than me even, makes you wonder eh?

Heck even The Sims are dirtier (but more humor) bouncing around under those sheets or diving into the hot tub.etc.

And it seems that the fact that one of the female NPC's was a blue skinned alien didn't sit well with some of the puritans. (how that managed to become bestiality is beyond me)

The scene in question is possible after some 20+ hours of game play after you have spent a lot of time romancing the NPC in question. aka, it's the more or less a conclusion of the romantic character side plot.
I found it looking very sensual, erotic perhaps, and a bit artistic, (very movie like)

If there is any flaws it may be for some guys (and possibly lot of gals out there) that there is no Male player and male NPC romance available, so a few equal rights "gamers" are a bit miffed at that.
But besides the puritans out there nobody has a issue with this scene at all.

And what I do not understand is why games are singled out this way.
The majority of gamers are adults anyway, and in Europe it seems the Mass Effect has a 12+ rating or similar, in the US it has a M rating (same as a R rated movie?)
Why can't they just make one rating system that apply to all media forms, as they really should be treating these equally and that includes News. (does News even have a R rating?)

I think that Bruce Campbell said it best on censorship and ratings. (I think this is the correctly worded quote of his):
"In American movies, you can cut off a breast, just don't try to kiss it." -Bruce Campbell

Same thing that I've said about AoC. You can show beheadings, mutilation and gore all you want, regardless if it's monsters, men, fluffy creatures or women/children (the last wouldn't suprise me). But if you show a nipple, you get condemned to the eternal pits of hell + sued for more money than the Jackson-family has spent on gold and plastic surgery. And of course, we have to file a million-dollar lawsuit against The Shield because of a naked butt in one of the scenes in one of the episodes!

F-bomb on a crutch! These people should be tied to a chair and then get subjected to a full evening of polish/finnish TV-theatre, where you have more sexual content and nakedness (even up close and full frontal! *gasp*) than you have in pr0n-movies.

The whole issue about the so-called sexual content of Mass Effect makes me yet again realize that most right-wing religious people are among the most idiotic, narrow-minded and hypocritical bastards around. It's LESS than a minute of a 30hour + storyline, for crying out loud! It's a minor damn detail! Haven't these people better things to do? Go sell a bible, tosspot, or sing a psalm or three instead.

*grumble*
