Yep, it's Virginia... sick again.

We might actually be in the middle of buying a place. As we've discovered, you don't really know till closing. But we're back in negotiations (sending addendums back and forth with initials and all that shit). We -might- even get an inspector out to this damn place this time. Hard to say really. Both banks are dragging their feet like teenaged boys that have to take out the trash.

The good news is, if this place actually pans out, I might be entertaining visitors by March. If I don't manage to die of Virginia lung rot before getting the guest room unpacked.

Now what is this shocking announcement? Not a baby, obviously... so what is it?

Good luck on settling on the place. I hope it works out for you and you feel better. :)

Veldron is no longer Veldron. He is taking a much deserved vacation. When he comes back, sometime in March, he will have a new identity and a new show. Also he turned the role of Director of GSP back over to Tarryk.

Go go gadget Vel... err... DJ Formerly Known As Veldron....

Yeah. Sooner or later, we all have to take a lengthy break or shed a character avatar. It's only healthy. Granted, it's a little hard to retain the continuity of meaningful relationships formed online when this happens, but they tend to find a way. It is only the facades that are discarded, after all.

Housing Negotiations Update: House inspection scheduled for this coming Wednesday.

Should this fail to turn up some dreadful, expensive problem with the property, we move forward with the closing, supposedly on Feb 15th.

Hiyas Boo! Good to hear from you :D

I spent the summer about an hour south of where I think you are, and I enjoyed it alot... I can certainly think of worse places to be.

Sounds like you have an awesome city going in SWG

Miss you much!

You'd be so sad though, Mags... Lands End is gone :( It didn't survive the demolitions. Naboo is a lot like Corellia these days. It's the real estate favored by the resale rapists like that evul sithsucker Yoggie. Yes, there's still a Yoggie.

You'd like the Nomad Market though.

Good news on the IRL front: got the inspection moved up to Saturday and it went well. The property is in very good condition and very few things need to be replaced or repaired. That translates to being able to invest in upgrades and improvements more or less at our own pace in the order we choose -- always a good thing.

Picked out paint and wallpaper border for the kitchen today. Right now the entire kitchen is this stark white with this huge, rednecky four inch tall apples and checkers wallpaper border that just makes my eyes bleed. We're heading for a more conservative scheme of wedgewood and white to tone it all down and make it look more classy than institutional redneck. That whole area gets FAR too much light to be left as is. >.<

LOL over the next ten years, it will end up being a vastly different room. It'll take ten years to upgrade to slate tile floors, ceramic tile and brass splash-guard wall treatments and granite slab counter tops. We're talking about a ten thousand dollar kitchen, after all. Of course if the insane happens and I win the lottery... all-at-once and all new cabinetry too. Because let's face it, I'm just crazy that way. I'd sooner remodel than move again once I settle somewhere.

Enough of my boring ruminations about interior design.

Mortgage is locked in now. Five point six percent interest rate, can you dig it? One less thing to worry about.

Shopping for all the relevant insurances, from title and mortgage protection to homeowner's and property insurance. Flood insurance is a whole separate one, if you can believe it.

Still a river of paperwork to read and sign and a mountain more of it in a couple weeks. Buying a house is a ridiculous amount of work. They should teach all this shit in high school so that people get turned out into the real world knowing what the hell they're getting into.

Real Life 101: Intro To Survival
Covers resume writing, job markets and basic 401K plan overview, credit building basics and budgeting for idiots
Real Life 102: Intermediate Survival
Covers apartment hunting, understanding insurance for life, home, auto and health, how to avoid bad relationships and how to save enough money to afford buying property
Real Life 103: Advanced Survival
Covers understanding buying and selling real estate, advanced insurance issues, safe investment basics, avoiding mortgage and large loan pitfalls...

Make that shit totally mandatory to graduating and give these poor, deluded little curtain climbers a real chance once they leave the safety of Mommy's basement...

EeeeK! Don't jinx it!

It's not a done deal till the closing happens. Closing can't happen till a whole raft of other crap happens, including securing a mortgage. At this point in time, we have only managed to achieve the following:

1) Accept a contract stating we are willing to pursue a specific set of terms and costs.
2) Examine the property in detail with a professional inspector to verify the actual condition of the property.
3) Arrange a formal agreement to transfer a set amount of funds to the seller and accept a pre-determined specific amount of debt and fixed interest on that debt to a lender.

As stupid as it may sound, that's not final. None of this can be considered final until we reach "closing". Until closing, all of this can become nothing and we'd have to start all over again with another property. Once closing happens, THEN it's ours (well as close as you get in this day and age anyway) and congrats can happen along with a lot of other happy things.
