I dunno if this has been posted, cause I've been gone for quite a while, but thought I'd toss it in. If it's been posted, just yank this one from the board and accept my apologies :)

That's amazing.

Do you think they'll actually get it off the ground?

I have been asked many times "You built that by yourself?". No, Not even close. Our rocket club, Tripoli San Diego, has a diverse membership with a wide range of skills and abilities. Almost everyone in the club participated.

I see a synergy here. TO SPACE!

A shame, but looking at the launch, it is really quite obvious why it broke up the way it did, with no gyro stabalisation, the slightest imbalance between the rockets will result in the whole vessel veering off course, and the stressses associated with that... will give rise to exactly what was seen.

I like to think that the fall of the X-Wing launch was a metaphore for the integrity of Star Wars movies (or hell, as a product, period); It looks great, hopes are high, and even starts off wowing everyone! Then it went to far, tried to do to much, all that quality fell apart, and scattered all over the earth. Now it's rubble. Smolldering rubble... and next year it will be marketed as "X-Wing; Shadows of the Jedi." :P

Actually I was happier with the Y-Wing design (Yeah, the one that BEAT the 21ft X-Wing). I mean sure X-Wings are cool but they tip of the ice burg, Y-Wings were so much fun to piolet (and bombing the hell out of everything) in rogue leader!
