I was just checking out the musical guests for DCon this year. Anyone have any opinions on which if any of these are good?

Everyone seemed to enjoy Cruxshadows quite a bit last year.

I liked Emerald Rose, but they are a bardic style band. Lutes and things like that. I'm weird!

Voltaire is comedy-goth-and-sci-fi-sort-of-cabaret-type-thing. Very silly, very very funny, and pretty good music come to that.

Not seen him live - was going to last year but got held hostage in a hotel room by crazy DJs - but apparently he puts on a REALLY good live show...

This year I really want to make it there *plans escape routes*

Cruxshadows are very fun live, but I'm not as bothered about seeing them this year - I'll probably wander over if anybody wants to see them and wants company.

It's funny, because when they first started touring the UK I never missed a show and it's not like they've really changed much since then. But I guess that's the thing, they haven't really changed... if you haven't seen them worth checking out though - I inroduced Lauri to them last year and she bounced non-stop all the way through :D

Some of the others ring a bell, but I can't put a name to a sound right now - will check out music when I get home...

Ya and when I got back from the concert without Lauri I got about 50 questions asking where Lauri was cause she was pretty drunk HAHA. I told them, "She's with Myz............I think...." And they replied with a "YOU THINK!??!" But all turned out fine :).

All I know is I got accused of kidnapping... when she was the one that grabbed me and made a beeline for the front! ;)

I mean, what kind of trouble were we likely to have got into anyway, two sensible and self-possessed young ladies like ourselves... well, unless we wanted to

Haha, yes, the Cruxshadows show last year was great!

I'm still sorry we worried everyone to death though. :P I'm considering checking in on them again and maybe Voltaire.

Do people have any spots in rooms avalible, or maybe recomendations on some alternative hotels, I (err this hypotheical person) did see several in a google search not listed on the DragonCon page. Closeness would be ideal.

For those that don't know Meik, he is the reason I became a Dancer in the first place. :) Back then we were both members of the Unity of The Rose and also back then you didn't leave your org to become a Dancer. Anyway, he is the one who told me that GSP Dancers were having open auditions and he convinced me that I should go for it. The rest, as they say, is history. :)

So since I dind't want to wait, leets are good at that, I got a room at the Hilton, apperently they wern't all sold out. Which is probably for the best, having been to other cons, I know having a quiet place to curl up and nap can be a very very good thing. Thanks.

I get in Friday morning 7amish, but youll all be asleep, or possibly still up realistically so I'll meet up that afternoon i'm sure. Is there a particular hang out, or spot that we might gravitate to? Or should I just use my leet tracking skills and hunt you down?

First and best place to check is the Funcom booth which will be in the Hilton, however I don't think the con opens until 9am or thereabouts, so that might be shut down at the time.

Other than that... well, it's really tough to say, we're going to be pretty haphazard. I would check back here somehow/someway (I have to figure out a way to do that myself once I land) to get more up-to-date information about people and their hangout spots.

The past couple years it's been mostly "walk around for 6 hours and maybe you'll find someone"... much like Omni Entertainment.

If you can't locate me, I'm probably in my bunk, whimpering about overcrowded places.

Just checked the Dragoncon website, just incase some of you are interested.

Adam Baldwin (Jayne from Firefly) will be at Dragoncon.

ARGH my third chance to meet Adam.

I'm not going to promise to "make the time" to do it this time around. Instead, I promise that I will have no time and be way too busy to catch him.

That way maybe I will.

Last year there was a LOT more Jayne hats than the year before. I expect this year there will be a sea of them.

And if there's one thing I've learned about Atlanta in September: Winter hats cause heat stroke. Yes, even if does look mighty cunning.
