Nickleback in concert ...

Postby Iragae » Tue Jul 10, 2007 5:23 pm

I was reading my local news today when I stumbled on this ... http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... TopStories

I was under the impression that before someone puts on a concert for the "whole family", they do some background research into the bands they hire/contact. Sure, Nickleback is huge on Canadian radio, being a Canadian group an' all ... but a large number of their songs never make it to the airwaves because of "strong language" they should of somehow caught on.

Anyways, tossing beer on kids ... haha! Fun for the whole family!

Sometimes I wonder about people!

Seriously what did they expect out of nickelback...they have rockstar, animals, fight for all the wrong reasons, photograph, next contestant...the list goes on but there not a family friendly band...they are however good imo.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

I used to hate them, but they've grown on me a lot over the years. And no, they're FAR from a family band. I didn't read that article cause I'm at work, but i figure by context it had something to do with people being pissed that they sprayed beer on the front row during their concert, my response is "OMFG, go die." As Shigy said, they're a hardcore rock band and anyone knowing anything about them knows that they're not even CLOSE to family friendly. Their hit song is about sneaking your daughter out of the house to go get it on in the back seat. Helloooo. Morons.

Well I'm of 2 minds on this thing.

On the one hand, I'm not sure who the asshat was who planned this thing, but he or she obviously never listened to Nickleback if they thought they were family friendly. I mean the fact that there is a Donald Duck remix of Figured You Out, does not make it a Disney song for god's sake!

On the other hand, the article says that they specifically sprayed the beer on the non-drinking section. Which, by its definition means it will mainly be populated by teens and kids, which was blatently stupid to have been placed so near the stage, especially for a concert of this type. But, at the same time, I think it was in somewhat bad form for Nickleback to purposefully target this section.

Although hopefully this was a big fat wake-up call for everyone involved in the planning of this event.

That's the big one right there. I can see them getting scolded for the no-no, but I can also see them before the event going "You put the non-drinking kiddie section WHERE? Oh christ, allow us to display what kind of band we're not."

Sure, they could have handled it better, but I can see them getting pretty pissed off at being toted up in the same public regard as a boy-band. I'd have been hard-pressed not to do something that unruly just to piss off the event admins, too.

its a rock concert, that thing happens all the time! it happened in the 60's and it wil lcontinue to happen. People need to educate THEMSELVES before blaming anyone else. Im sure no one put a gun to the ticket buyers heads.

The bit I loved best was
Others called on the band to make amends by returning to Charlottetown to perform a free show -- this time a family friendly version.

Hey, Learning from Experience? Meet Stupid, and his cousin I'm With. They're going to kick your butt all round this town...

Oy! I guess I missed that part of the article, Myz! What kind of utter dope even considers making such a request?

The only way that makes any sense to me on any level would be if Nickleback was asked to keep in family friendly and that they had, for whatever strange reason, agreed to do it. Then I can see someone thinking that they should make amends for not sticking to the arranged deal. But there's no indication that there had been and kind of arrangement made. Even if it had been, they were still taking a huge chance that this type of thing would happen.

Chaimera, I stand with ya!

This HAS been happening for a long time, and people should really educate themselves before they commit to it.

And now, they want to pay bands or whatnot after their performance! haha!

pwnt! Lesson learned!

Nickleback 1, Charlottetown 0.
