New house = new headaches

Postby Vallikat » Tue Feb 06, 2007 12:50 am

So we've only been in the new house 2 months and we're having our first major problem. Our main sewage drain (which if you don't know is what connects our household plumbing to the main sewer under the street) has collapsed. The plumber is giving us an estimate of $4,500 to have it fixed. I'm not a very happy girl just now. We're on limited water usage until they come fix it, which won't be until Friday. That means sparse and staggered shower times (there are 3 of us in the house), flushing only when necessary, no laundry, and no dishwashing.

So maybe I'll come to shows and just try to forget all this. But maybe I'm feeling a bit too depressed to be my muffiny self right now. We'll see how I'm feeling. Just wanted to let you know so that you can all make a fuss over me and maybe I'll cheer up some. :)

If you don't cheer up I will be forced to send overweight, sad male strippers to your home to do a rendition of Showgirls that is ten times worse than the movie was! I am just crazy enough to do it Vallers!

That sucks Valli and it surely comes with the owning a house that is if you are buying it but if you are renting its the landlords problem to fix it and you can hold up paying rent until its resolved .. I am selling my house next year because I can not afford the upkeep its too old and needs far to much work that I can not do myself but It will be a good fixer upper for someone . Anyway good luck hon and don't let the problems of life bring you down too much believe me its not worth it in the long run.

Everybody I know who has recently bought their first house has had something big and expensive go wrong with it within the first few hours of owning it. It's like a rite of passage or something. But on the other hand, all the people I know who have had this happen have ever since had trouble free, happy days*. So thhat should go for you too!

Hope it's all sorted out swiftly, not-too-backbreaking-expensively... and permenantly! And in the meantime *dead leet hugs*

*Unless, of course, I just jinxed them all by saying that...

Thanks guys! It helps to know you guys care. :)

Mental, I appreciate the offer, but MO is a tad far from DE. I'm not sure I can hold it that long. ;)

Well, there are rest stops along the way there and you can just show up a little stinky :P

Good luck with that though, Valli and like Myz said.. its kind of like a right of passage to buying a home.. something always goes wrong within the first year. Hopes for stress-free days from here on out! Good luck sweetie! *hugs tight*

Aw man! Crap like that should totally be insurable. :? I mean, it's nessessary for living, right? insurance angle right there. "Your sewage line could collapse at any time! But at Allstate, we'll make sure you're tubes never stay blocked for long." The gecko could compete. :)

Home ownership, don't you love it. Hey it could be worse Jugsy! But it isn't, and heck, I bet once you get it fixed, it won't be a problem again!
