How can I play my own music?

Postby Mornediel » Tue Aug 16, 2005 3:12 pm

Hey, I was thinking of getting a stereo for my apartment in Rome blue, but I've found out as expensive as they are, they only look cool, but dont really play music. I was recommended to GSP that someone might be able to tell me how I can play my own music. thanks!

Some other people I've asked about this have hinted toward the possibility of creating a playlist of digital music files for winamp, and somehow I can broadcast through that. is this possible? In another post, I mentioned about getting married, and I'd love to be able to play my music for the reception[/b]

As far as I know, there is no possible way to play music for people using in-game features. The stereo you can buy is just for looks. GSP uses Live365 to broadcast music from our home computers to all of you. Hopefully this answers your question. If you have anymore questions, don't be affraid to ask :).

Ok, thanks. well, I had also toyed around with the idea of starting a goth/rave club, so maybe live365 would be the way to go. is there a way of limiting where it can be heard, or that anyone who came in my building would hear it? im sure if i researched enough i could probably find out, but i figure better to ask the people that actually do it.

Live365 is a service provided outside of Anarchy Online. It's an online radio service that isn't only limited to this game. The reason why it works well for GSP is due to licensing and bandwith issues.

In order for someone to listen to GSP, they need to go to a website and connect to the stream using a program that is not a part of the AO game. In fact, the actual streaming has absolutely nothing to do with AO.

In order for people to 'tune in' to whatever you would be broadcasting, they would need a 3rd party application to listen to the stream, such as Winamp or Windows Media Player, and you would need a DSP server or live365 setup for them to listen.

The advantage is that they can listen to it on any computer that has an internet connection with sufficient download bandwith. They can play the game while listening, play other games, or play no games at all. It doesn't matter.

EDIT:
The only way to limit people from listening is to either require a password for people to listen or limit the number of people you give the server address to that you're streaming from.
