I have to disagree Oddy. It may not occur on the actual birth of Christ, but Christmas is a celebration of his birth, regardless of the date.

Well, it is now. It wasn't when it was introduced. It was, as you say, a pegan holiday. Later incorporated into the christian religion. Christmas, if you judge by the name and what it represents today, is as you say a religious holiday. Tho the date and setting are not.

Now weather this religion is christianity, materialism or money is up to the individual. But it is something we worship this time of year, no matter who we are or what our views normally are! ^^

God himself. No christian has ever been allowed to portray God... Yet we see him as an old man, muscular, with white hair and beard... Any other gods you can think of that look like that?

With that image, anyone knew he represented power, because all, if nothing else subconsciously, knew that Zeus=power.
