Stupid FFXI with it's sputid graphical superiority!... Bah!

Postby Oddysee » Fri Jul 30, 2004 6:39 pm

My brother felt he needed to rub in just HOW much better looking his game is that AO... Even though he used to play (Redningsmand). That ungreatfull little... Bah! ^^

But as much as I hate him for making me admit it... Damn... Those are some wicked in-game graphics...

LOL yeah I gotta admit, the look and feel of that game is amazing.

Now if only it weren't Final Fantasy, I might give it a try. I still might some day, who knows....but good lord am I ever sick of that series. As an MMOG, I'd probably hate it infinitely more once I got past the "oooh aaah" reactions to the graphics.

Probably just me, though. :)

I considered playing... I really did... But I hate the interfase!
It's made to be used with both Joypad and Keyboard... So no mouse friendly graphical menues... Only text menues. Also, it looks like crap... The game itself looks amazing, but the more I look at bro playin... The more I realise it's EQ all over again, in a slightly better looking package...
NO THANK YOU!

I actually didn't mind the layout.. of course I much preffered laying back on my couch playing on a 54' inch TV with a controller than I did sitting at my computer. I really really liked that it was so universal. That's about the only thing I did like about it..

Thanks Mummu :)

I treated FFXI like I did with all FF games I ever bought.. drooled over it, read the manual cover to cover, and got way too excited.

Unfortunately it didn't last long because the framerate was HORRIBLE on my poor MX card. I got busy with AO+othervirtualstuff, too, so I ended up just cancelling.

If it weren't for hearing about all the "level grinding"(which in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing,.. just when it's the majority of activity available), I might've tried it again.

What boggles me, is I've had to argue with some people that the graphics are "good"+. Yep, looks good enough to eat for the most part.

Does indeed... My brother says it's rather slow tho, and it quickly becomes work over pleasure... So I don't see myself ever playing it...

I played it for a while. None of them have a sence of humor over there. Nobody understood when I said I was a cow monster. They always would reply but "You don't look like a cow", and I would just reply "But you don't look stupid"

ROFL - you gotta alter your response though - fine tune it a bit son! (OK channeling Foghorn Leghorn there)

FFXI Dork: You don't look like a cow
Mumon: And you don't look stupid, shows looks don't prove much, eh!

Well ill prolly be the best bet on giving a reply to this subject taken into account im the reson me bro started this Subject ;)

Anywho the graphs in the game are awsome as you saw, and ill post a few more pics just to show off :P anywho besides that there are only two other good things in the game.
First the so called AH (AuctionHouse) a thing that allows you to sell stuff even when your offline :O
Secondly when you get mission, gives you a good feel... but thats kinda it.
All in all the game is too freaking slow, take ages to lvl, you need a group no matter what, and getting skill up is a pain in the arse, and to be able to ride the chocobo you have to do a 6 hour quest (minimum) you have to feed the damn bird some grass 6 times and you can only do it once everyhour -.-
So i kinda quit the game and went back to good old AO, wich im allready having more fun with :D

^^ uhhhhhh... long time listener of veldrons use to play ao - some may know me as the Gnome guy- but anywho ... now i sort of play ffxi... its alright... spend a month getting all jobs to 30+ and a black mage to 50 :/ this game is Teh Suckage... 60 days in ... fear 18 hours addiction a day. Im about to come Rk.

Eh i dont complain alot about games... but this is very little lag.. but theres alot of bad attitudes.. Japanese dont want too cooperate alot..
Money vs time is a pain. ^^ but it beats playng a agent :P j/k

Most likely ill be coming back to Rk upon the arrival of Alien Invasion ^^
ffxi is nothing to brag about it... yes it has a few intresting perks...(Alot of nice storey lines) but nothing compared to Ao.

Ffxi in my book: 7/10

Btw any RTS fans out there check out the Dawn of War Open Beta on file Planet ^^ possibly the next starcraft ordeal ^^

Because, the FF's with modern settings, quite frankly... SUCKED!

Cyberpunk is awesomme... But even AO has lost that aspect... People are no longer wearing trenchcoats, and ragged clothing and piercings... They're wearing knightly armour... A real, bloody shame!

That aside, the best FF ever was number 7... And it was futuristic... Just not cyberpunk.

But who cares, WoW is out soon, and I'm gonna give it a try... AO's getting very grinding for my taste, tho I doubt I can ever qiut... I'll be back... Again and again. But as always, I'm a gonna give it a try ^^

Wtb Gnome Warlock of Tauron Shaman! ^^

WOW was a lot of carefree fun, damn great for a beta.

*Stress beta player, ended*

The players seemed nice as well, very suprising with the fact that people assumed a stress beta of non subscribers to Fileplanet and subscribers would be rife of assholes. The worst I saw were people waiting around to steal the chance to skin a fallen beast. Skills were fun, as were quests. There was a problem with players training monsters in the dungeons but it wasnt that terrible. Classes seem rather balanced right now. I saw all manner of classes kicking butt.

The world is impressive, feeling as if you are living in Warcraft III from a personal pespective. I think You'll like it a lot Oddysee.

On the flipside, I am wanting to rejoin AO. :) Theres nothing stopping Funcom from upping the graphics, Dark ages of camelot is doing that.

Even if it doesnt, the world of AO is a great one, and I'd take its lower graphics any day over Asherons Call 2 or SWG or FFXI.

Edit: 'Shake it like a polaroid!' ;)
