Postby Katrine » Fri Aug 23, 2002 10:41 am

I've been browsing this forum and GSP's main page for a couple of days now, but i cant find anything about what DJ is playing what.. And i dont meen which songs. Do the Dj's have a fav. genre they play? Im a HUGE trance/rave fan, and im wondering if there are DJ thats playing mainly trance/rave??

To be honest the only DJs with a specific genre of music are Tarryk and Riakoo, the rest of us play a mixture of many kinds of music. Unfortunately at this time we do not have a trance/rave DJ. Tarryk plays most Grindcore/Metal and Raikoo is primarly Goth I believe.

Of the techno that I play, trance/rave is my primary. The same goes for Riakoo, I do believe, but to even more an extent.

OK the theme /style show idea is realy something you should consider.. Hey. why not make it a regular? like first friday in the month, only hits from the 80's. The seconf saturday in the month with only the best trance/rave tunes from the best. and so on. of course yu had to see how this was welcomed by the party ppl. but i belive such an event would be most popular...

So you like hard "bang my head on the table" metal-something. Sure. I can listen to that without going bananas and flame everyone. I might even like the song(s). BUT what I like (and listen too) is trance/techno/rave, and thats my choice.. so dont go nuts everytime you see that someone have different oppinions than you....

techno rocks.
hard metal rocks.

music rocks, if it bumps, then ill play it.. If you dont like it, ill take that into consideration :D

I think I speak for all the DJs in saying that we all like feedback.. If you dont liek something, we want to know, because we are for teh people

Boco's got it right.

If it rocks, it's playable. And that goes for all genres.

The college radio station I used to DJ at used the following format:

Main format was alternative. (This would be equivalent to the general GSP playlist)

In the evenings, starting around 8pm EST, they had their "Specialized shows". Each show specialized in a certain genre. My friend & I hosted the Wed live-mix techno/rave show, my friend also hosted the Thur Ska show, Fridays were a big metal day, Saturdays were Soul in the am, R&B in the afternoon, leading into Hip hop in the evenings. Sundays switched from gospel then latin then Christian.

Each show had it's own dedicated folowers.

This worked extremely well. We were in the top THREE radio stations in the city. If we weren't a non-profit college station, we would have been the comercialized stations' biggest competitor.

Of course, this COMPLETELY depends on their being DJ's for each of the specialized shows.

Ok. who really got music genres or rather style groups nailed down?

could that someone please setup as a complete style/genregroup poll as possible?

Hmm! Xtrophic Can polls have multiple answers?

I'm interested in seeing how many would like to (or wouldnt mind)
Listening to certain styles.

If people want R&B or even country lol (these are 2 styles I never listen to) I wouldnt mind dedicating 1 of my shows or half a show during each month to a certain style/genregroup.

So comon listeners. Feedback on this? :)

Umm? What exactly do you mean with this? A poll can have more than 2 options :) Other than that I don't really know what you are asking.
Are you asking if you can have more than 1 poll in each thread, then the answer is no.

More than 2 options yeah, but not more than 1 selection.

I.e.

What Music do you want to hear?
Techno
Metal X
rock

You can only choose one. or the poll holder
Need to type combos on each option.

Would be nice to do.

Techno X
Metal X
rock X

What type of music do you want to hear?

A) Techno
B) Metal
C) Rock
D) All of the above.
E) None of the above.
F) Techno and Metal
G) Techno and Rock
H) Metal and Rock
