I'll be on NPR today

Postby Tarryk » Tue Sep 11, 2007 5:25 pm

It turns out that National Public Radio really liked my story on my 9/11 routine, and they want to put me live on the air to talk about it as soon as they bring up the topic.

I hate to suggest that people tune out of GSP, but if you get NPR in your area (which of course you should) and are bored, tune in at some point between 2:30pm and 3pm Eastern Time today and listen for me. :)

To stream it on the internet, I only know of my local listen-links at www.michiganradio.org

But better that you leave GSP tuned in and check out the NPR cast on a conventional radio. of course. :)

Yes, sadly I won't be able to listen from here either. So it would be great if someone can record it. :)

But I will get to hear it which is very good. Meanwhile, let's shine our shoes and comb our hair, people. A link this site just made the NPR website. Go, Tarryk!

i tuned in over here in england, tarryk. more people should follow your example and remember those events; 9/11 should never, ever be forgotten. the world stood still in shock as 9/11 unfolded and devasted so many lives that day.

my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, families of victims, all the emergency services members who tried their hardest to save lives, and to all the families of the service members who gave their lives to save others.

Thanks so much, Yyollanda. This was a great interview to have, and I'm hoping that others -- especially in my community -- got to hear so that I might see them rekindle the memories and keep us aware of where we stand in the world in the shadow of those events. I'm hoping to see a couple more candles out there tonight. :)

Yeah, on Vallikat's link, it looks like they'll have the audio of the show up in about 3 hours for those who didn't get the chance to hear it.

Nice interview tK. Your simplistic, but very aware tribute is nicely put. I was around the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1996 (2 miles to be exact) and people still drone on about closure and such. I wish they would simply remember the innocents lost. That's what you have accomplished with your simple vigil. Props my brother, and I continued with a simple candle on top of Keau that I managed to keep lit until about 20 minutes ago.

Well I managed to keep a candle lit sitting on my porch swing and oddly enough my neighbors went into there houses got candles and lit them as well,it brought a feeling of closeness and I will continue to do this in the coming years. The interview touched me and I hope it did so with others, as well. Hugs Tarryk

Tarryk I'm wondering if you had more participation in your area than you have over the last few years?

Thanks y'all, much appreciated, and thank you for burning candles as well! I promised I would never forget, and I never will. As Otori said, it's for a very simplistic reason, but it's still the best reason one can have: don't let anyone forget.

As for last night, I did have one very nice lady pull over and say thank you and that she had heard the NPR story. I was a half hour late (8:30pm) to light the candle, and she had apparently driven by a couple times to check for me, hehe. ;)

That's because he actually uses Tarryk as his day to day name.
