Ok, this is still in process, but I figured I'd post it up here and see what you guys thought of it. I've done variations on the image of evil kind of thing. Today evil feels like red and black.

It looks very interesting but what is it?

(Thought for a second that it might be a blood splatter and that when you said that you are still working on it... well anyways I then realized blood doesn't glow normaly so it must be something else.)

Not so much. Hence why I asked.

Yes I'll admit it looks very cool, but as it's not finished I didn't want to try to guess what I thought it was. Hence I asked.

the smudge migration painting your doing is hard but can be really rewarding. this is looking great! dont change the technique your doing, its gonna come out fine. even add another photoshop or painter layer and start doing the same trick with an even lighter shade of redand get some highlights on top of what you got. phatty stuff!
tally ho!

if you wanna try out another technique for shits and giggles, always fun excercise to do when your stuck or overworked on something, i did a tutorial for some cats at deviantart on paint brushing.

I think the most frustrating part of all this for me is that what I see on my screen in Painter Classic is completely different from what you guys see on the forums. I know this because I have the luxury of comparing the 2 side-by-side. What I see in Painter Classic is a lot crisper and brighter than what you all are seeing. I used to always save in jpg because that seemed to work the best. This time I thought I would try to save it as a photoshop file, but that doesn't really work too well either. Then try to translate what I've painted into a print out and things really go down hill from there. *sigh* I don't know if its my monitor or what it is. But I guess if it was my monitor I wouldn't be able to see the better version either. So I don't know...its a resolution thing or something I guess.

Anyway...Its not a red splatter *groan* Its a face, masculine, turned slightly to one side and done all in shades of red. No eyes per se. Mostly black holes with some form of red light (flame) from within. But the light has no glow to it on purpose. It should be a cold light. He's also sporting a red cloak. Cloak is meant to have elements of being shiny/silky and yet, old and tattered.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to keep working. And thanks for the link Epiphonic! I'll definately check it out. Oh and "smudge migration"!!! Thanks especially for that. This is my favorite technique, but I never knew exactly what to call it. :)

Just be assured though not to be insulted by me not knowing what it is. I see that it is art and I think that it looks cool but having never noticed this art before (Other than for your picture by your name... and I thought that was a carved pumpkin...) so my mind is still adjusting to find out what it is exactly.
