DIY Desktop Mic Stand

Postby Stefano » Tue Feb 21, 2012 6:28 pm

In preparation for becoming a DJ for Gridstream Productions I went out to Guitar Center and bought myself a neat mic stand that came with a microphone. Not listening to my gut that screamed, "Stay away from Guitar Center! They suuuuuuck." I said, "Whatever!" and came home with all my new goodies. Now when I went to go set up the stand and hook up the mic on it, the little clip to it immediately snapped and ruined my day. Normally I would rush back but, ugh, the drive is about 40 minutes away in the middle of Rhode Island so I am holding off on that. I googled like a mad man trying to find DIY mic stands. Tons of coat hangers and dudes playing with too much nylon.

I glanced around my desk to see if I could find something -anything- that could my microphone during a show. And then I found it...

And it worked, too! But you were smelling rum the whole time you were DJing? Was there any left by the end of the show?

nice mic stand! though i have never had any issues with purchases from Guitar Center, though the "checking" in of my equipment when i go there is annoying.

Whoa! Too much info!

(sorry, couldn't help myself :P)

Even after not having played AO for many years, or having listened to GSP for many years (Cursing in church. I know, I'll burn in hell for that), I still remember the old soundbits Tarryk made. Too bad I never could talk him into doing a Leet-version of Can you feel the love tonight (Can u feel teh WUB 2nite)...

Thought i would post my mic stand, its made out of a swing arm lamp and the mic holder is a t-angle pvc pipe. Works fairly well unless you try to make it stretch to far than it will fall over. So i currently have to clamp it to the table when using it. Thinking about attaching a heavy piece of metal to the bottom of it maybe.
