This a new MMORPG I have been playing over the past week or so. The graphics may not be the best but it is fun. It is a Star Trek style game.

It has a 30 day trial period (only allows one character if on trial) to check it out. The game has a bit of a learning curve but that is because it is kinda detailed.

Check it out!

Looks promising. I certainly don't mind the low-end graphics, because usually (with exceptions, of course) when a game has graphics that dated, you can be sure that it will run well on your system, AND it's like to have a lot of content to make up for the lack of explosive visuals.

Before downloading client, my at-a-glance review of features says:

Plusses:

All that's listed on the front page. The fact that you can play as a PERSON (not a whole ship, which I think is the big EVE-style cop-out) on board a ship working with it's crew AND/OR planetside. That's freakin' awesome, and no released game has even come close to touching that kind of transitioning and interacting yet. Here's to hoping that it delivers what it says.

Misgivings:

Right there on the front page is the phrase "Starfleet officer". The fact that it's a concept-clone of Star Trek is one thing, but they're just begging to get slapped with a trademark violation with that. (Starfleet is a trademark of Star Trek, right?)

All aside, I'll definitely have to download the client and check it out when I have time.

Two good points LTK.

Graphics do not a good game make. Content FTW :)

Being a crew member on a ship rather then the ship itself. Sounds like a lot more fun for the cooperative MMO player. As opposed to the solo FPS player.

While Paramount has certainly been agressive about protecting Star Trek they actually own very few of the concepts that originated in the original series. Star Trek was in production for 3 years as a Desilu studios production and Desilu never took out any formal copywrites. By the time Paramount bougt Desilu and thus Star Trek Trek is becoming common use and thus public domain.

That said Paramount is a big studeo and perfectly willing to sue till their opponant runs out of money and can't resist them.

TK or anyone interested in playing,

Check out the forums as there is alot of info. You can play as a civilian as well but you may want to make your first character Fleet as they have a training ship, which will allow you to learn basic ship operations (helm, tactical, sensors, etc). If you get onto the Yorktown (the training ship) and noone is there you may have to wait as the trainers are players. I have a character who is part of the core crew on the Yorktown, his name is Lt. Asher Fallon.

The game needs more players as it has gone through a transition.

Alot of people in the game use Gtalk you can contact me there at: therealcryonic@gmail.com
