ANZAC Day

Yes Friends, It's Anzac Day Down under

ANZAC = Australian and New Zealand Army Corp ....People that were were thrust into the battle fields on the other side of the planet in WW1.

It is one of our (Australia's) most revered days and great source of national pride and identity.
The ANZAC landings at Suvla bay on the Gallipolli peninsula in Turkey were not a victory, there was no strategic or millitary gain at all.... It was in truth - a slaughter...
But so many tales of mateship and young men overcoming insurmountable odds show the nature of the true Aussie character.. You just don't let your mates down....

One of the best tributes in video and song can be seen here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9A4ARtbmFk&NR=1

They went with songs to battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow;
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted....
They fell with their faces to the foe....

They shall not grow old..
As we who are left grow old...
Age shall not weary them...Nor the years condemn...
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning...

We will remember them.....

LEST WE FORGET

Alec William Campbell
The last ANZAC.... We'll miss ya mate... but we'll never forget!

It'll be late (as in already the following day) when I do my show "tonight", but since it will still technically be Anzac day where I am, I already planned on doing a bit of a tribute to it early in my show.
