Yay! I've been wanting to say that for SOOOO long, but I figured I'd let someone else start it this time. Thank you so very, very much. Now I wont feel half as bad when I say:

You ignorant hacks, why do you think you have to flip everyone when you see a camera? Ooooh, I'm so cool, I'm a unique rebel. That's what it says in my Marilyn Manson news letter. I'm also a lesbian vampire goth and I hate all mainstream people so fuck you for judging me!
Stop showing us that damn finger, no one cares that you hate your mommy, that you're on a mission to overthrow the worlds leaders and instate yourself as supreme ass-hat.
Wanna make a good impression? Try "Hi". It works for the rest of us. You're not tough, you're not cool and you're in no way going to win anyones respect with such pathetic attemps at using the oldest phalos symbol in the world to provoke the viewers.

Every time I see people flippin' the camera (and us) I can't help but think:
Hi, this an illustration of my penis. Scale 1:1.

Now try again, only this time, start with "Hi, I'm new here, how are you all" and we'll take it from there.

OMGz WOOOOOO go Oddy GO!!!!

Actually, I look at the happy little "flippin the bird" shots and have come to the shocking realization that all of them are KIDS. Those chronologically past childhood just suffer a severe case of maturity lag.

In any case, what must have been intended to be defiance and bad-assedness only translates to the adult eye as "lame kid".

Oh well.

Lol, nah, thanks man! I've been sitting on that for a few weeks now. Not sure how much longer I could hold! :P
It's just, I'm always the one causing trouble, one way or another, at least this time, I know I wasn't the only one thinking it! ^_^

And relax! Besides, no one can deny something along that line had to be said sooner or later. That's the 4th "bird shot" in just a few weeks.
So anyway, who's up for bagels?

The same could be said of kids who wear dreadlocks and goggles. *shrug*

Not necesserilly Amuel. Now while I agree that some do it for that reason, every now and then that's what people like. If you choose the approach you mention there, then anyone who doesn't wear what everyone else wears is a "rebel". Anyone who thinks about what their wear is then a wannabe, anyone who listens to certain music genres is then a poser.

Everyone does what they do for a reason, subliminal or not. That much is true, but there is a differance between your life style, and flipping total strangers the bird to look geezed.

I personally wear skater cargo's and shoes. Does that make me a teenage rebel, stickin it to the world, or do I simply like wearing cargo's and comfy shoes?
So the goggles have no purpose, but you know what? Neather does a necklace, a ring, and armband or earrings. Yet people aren't posers for wearing them (always). It's an accesory that adds to your current look, and at the end of the day, NO ONE doesn't care about how they look.
There's a rather big diff between teen-rebellion and being aware of what you wear.

I know that a lot of people like goth, cyber goth and the like, because it's what mommy and daddy don't like, so it is tied to teen-rebellion. Like punks. But at the same time, you have to accepts that it's also a way of life for some people. On the same level as being indy, retro, trendy, flashing, a jock or even joining the militairy.
The latter might be a uniform you have to wear, but you inlisted yourself. You knew it was there, and quite frankly, most of the people who inlist do it because they like the idea of having a life like that. Isn't that posing, exactly like what you just said?

It can be argued that everything is posing then. There is always a point of view that will state they're only doing it to stand out.
But standing out isn't any more posing, than being one of the crowd. So I kinda think the argument is moot, as every single person on the planet does it. Even you.
No one is their own, no one is a unique individual. We're all mixes of something, and that's just life.
The differance appears in how you go about it. Wearing something, minding your own business and letting people see you, not your facade isn't posing. It might be making a statement, but as long as the conversation didn't start with "Hi, my name is random noob and I'm a lesbain" then it doesn't matter either. Let people see YOU, not your attitude, and you can wear what ever you like. It's when you become what you wear that you're posing.

So anyway, what's the ETA on those bagels?

Did i claim to be cool and cleaver for dressing like that, no, did i try to be rebellious like that, no... I dont dress like that every day, that picture was taken on my birthday last year so im bound to be dressed up..

I dont see there was any need for that comment apart from just to be spiteful, i hadnt spoken of you, unless you were one of the multitude who decided to put their middle finger up at the camera to show how much you hate the world or whatever.

I dont even dress like that anymore, my tastes changed, but i didnt dress like that as a sign of rebellion or to be cool, to me it was how i wanted to dress, the self image i had about myself at the time told me that i should dress like that. Not a group of people, or a big "f**k you" in the face of society.
Some people dress how they do to affect others preconceptions of them, some do it cause that is how they are comfortable. Some (as Oddysee said) do it to rebel against parents or authoritive figures, the thing is people in the alternative lifestyle and subcultures are the most noticed of these, people dont see Jocks or Military brats as anything out of the ordinary because society has molded peoples judgement against the "freaks" and "weirdo's".

In the end, you may not like how i dressed in that picture, and no doubt you hunted for that picture just so you could make that pointless little comment, but if thats how you see it thats how you see it, i dont care.. But to me there is nothing wrong with expressing yourself through fashion and image, being offensive isnt expression... its just trying to "shock" or "disgust" people...

oh and.... ETA on bagels... erm.. its your turn to get them

hehe. It's what my face normally looks like, regardless of mood. It goes that way every time I relax my face :P

Yep, that's right. I walk around this world with a perpetual look of being slightly pissed on my face. Maybe that's why so many stare at me...

And no, it didn't bother me. Just didn't think that some of the comments were needed, that's all =)
